Hi all, for those who are interested, a first public beta of my new DM-level is about to be released.
Unfortunately I'm having troubles accessing some pages on http://www.unrealplayground.com/ , so I'll try again later. In the meantime....

I have a list of feedback here to type in - i wrote notes out after playing a match on your map the other day.
The size of the map is quite large, almost has 3 distinct areas - structure, walkways, terrain/water. I like having vehicles in a DM map, just playing DM alone gets boring for me - and the vehicles sure add a lot.
The structure you built looks cool, and has some nice zones for playing in - but the scale seems so large compared to the players. For example, the main halls - they seem a bit too tall and wide.
ok - now for the straight forward feedback points.
* energy towers - the jump pad has too much velocity to them, you get sent too high in the air and sustain damage when you land * bots weren't going for the dark walker - did happen once though * height were dark walker sits is a bit too tight when you walk out - you are seeing within some of the geometry * walk paths - the bots didn't really use these, i did once, but really to see what the pickups were * water is moving but there doesn't seem to be a reason for the current * no blocking volumes to keep you in the crater - or are you extending gameplay outside of the crater? * this is the main issue - everyone tends to stay in the orange room * weapon placement needs some work, I was running around looking for pickups * since the map is so big, maybe try some portals? * the material on the large circular section that has a slope - doesn't look so good. The material shows a lot of detail - yet it has no depth, no bump map nor normal map it seems. You can try this app out to generate them: http://www.crazybump.com/
I hope the feedback helps Thanks for posting the map.

Hi Gideon, thanx for FB....
* energy towers - the jump pad has too much velocity to them, you get sent too high in the air and sustain damage when you land
- Yep, I did this on purpose, I really like it the way it is, the damage done is not that big...
* bots weren't going for the dark walker - did happen once though
- Trust me, I've played it many times (DM & TDM), and most of the times they go into the Walker
* height were dark walker sits is a bit too tight when you walk out - you are seeing within some of the geometry
- Yep, I'll try to fix that..
* walk paths - the bots didn't really use these, i did once, but really to see what the pickups were
- This is very, very strange. As I said, I've played it many times and this didn't happen with me...
* water is moving but there doesn't seem to be a reason for the current
- The wind perhaps? ;)
* no blocking volumes to keep you in the crater - or are you extending gameplay outside of the crater?
- ??? Could you get out of the crater???? That would be a disaster...I mean, I've placed ForcedDirVolumes for the vehicles and surrounding this Volumes also KilzzVolumes (I believe they are called that way) and it's almost impossible to get into them; only if you take a Raptor and jump out when in the air this might happen, but you'll have to do your very, very best....
* this is the main issue - everyone tends to stay in the orange room
- Well, what can I say: ???????????
* weapon placement needs some work, I was running around looking for pickups * since the map is so big, maybe try some portals?
- it's intended as a big map...and I'm not a big fan of portals...
* the material on the large circular section that has a slope - doesn't look so good. The material shows a lot of detail - yet it has no depth, no bump map nor normal map it seems. You can try this app out to generate them: http://www.crazybump.com/
- Agreed, this could look better...
I'm curious...with how many bots did you play the map?

i think it was 31 - only 1 match - I'll try to get another match in today. Kinda hard to play UT3 and work at the same time I'm sure people do it though.
about the orange room - i just though they all cluster there too much, that the majority of the bots were there - so if one wants to win, the map's strategy is to stay just outside that room for the whole match. If they were spread out more, I felt I'd play around on more of the map.

OK, maybe I should add more playerstarts....beta1B is on it's way.....
BTW....maybe we should continue this conversation on UP? This is a bit off-topic, y'know.....

Well, maybe not...over there I don't expect a lot of FB; most of the maps uploaded don't get any FB.
- I've tried to avoid seeing through SM's when in the DarkWalker...worked with collision and volumes, but couldn't get it fixed. I could make the structure of the area where the DW is a bit higher, but then the DW isn't able to walk on it, so I'll leave it the way it is; it isn't pretty, but it doesn't really affect gameplay.
- About crazyBump: looks like a cool app. but unfortunately I wasn't able to extract the texture from the engine. There is an 'export to file'-poss., but it was greyed out...
