Just use SAVIHost... the FREE Standalone VSTi host.

Wanna sequence those VSTi's?

Use the most excellent TechnoToys collection. (They're now FREE)

http://www.technotoys.com/executables/technotoys-omega.exe

The famous XG-909, SEQ-303, and ARP-X8 all in one convenient package.

Then get ahold of MIDI Yoke from:

http://www.midiox.com/

(You'll need the MIDI Yoke drivers to patch it all together)

These three utilities make a great FREE "standalone" performance package without having to use an expensive CPU intensive HOST program.

So... how do I use it??

Well... I launch up to eight copies of Seq-303 (up to 16 sequences per Seq-303) and then launch a corresponding number of SAVIHosted VSTi's. Set the MIDI send on each Seq-303 to a seperate MIDI channel (one thru eight) and then set the recieve channel on the corresponding VSTi's (one thru eight) using the MIDI Yoke NT selections. Hit "run" on any of the Seq-303's and they will all run at the same time, at the same BPM. Change the "tempo" on one Seq-303 and they all change at the same time. Change params on any of the Seq-303s (program #, Channel, Pitch, Velocity, Pan, Timebase, Motion, etc, etc...) and the VSTi it's controlling will respond accordingly. You can also, of course, change the params on the VSTi's in realtime (using your mouse) as well while Seq-303 is doing its thing.

An ultra low latency, interesting, performance oriented, jam focused, real-time fun, fun, fun sort of setup... especially if you use a laptop configuration and are a cheap SOB like me.

Save your sequences in Seq-303 for later recall. And don't forget to press "record" on your SAVIHosted VSTi so you can save your "performance" to a wav file for later processing and sharing with others.

Try it today. Enjoy it forever....

And remember....

Have fun!!!

cheers
