First off - I would like to thank Sendy for keeping the altenative tunings flame alive, the last piece he posted convinced my to keep exploring different tunings Well I can't seem to get my act together to finish the last song in my Lucy series, but here are the next 2.
Gee Lucy http://www.ArtistServer.com/artist/song.cfm/a/846/tid/16240
Tried to keep this one simple - it sort of happily bounces along. Sorry that I didn't wait for your beats Kylo.
Ahh Lucy http://www.ArtistServer.com/artist/song.cfm/a/846/tid/16241
The rhodes gives it a jazzy feel and I kept it sparse, but tried to bring the lushness out.
Enjoy!

(I apologize) I never finished that because I started something new... It didn't sound "lucy" enough for me either. I'll give this a listen~~

Lovely tracks. Of the two, I like Ahh Lucy best.

I like Ahh a fair old bit. In particular there is some interesting tonality of the Lucy scale coming out on the high layer of the marimba-type sound in the middle which I really liked.
Gee sounded too simplistic for me, but that's all a matter of taste. It sits well in this suite of compositions of yours.

Thanks everyone for the listen.
MC - Bill Nelson from BeBop Delux, right? His Dreamsville site is pretty cool.
Sendy - That's a kalima sample, since it would be too hard to tune mine properly.
I am partial to Ahh Lucy also, mainly because it surprised me.

yep, that's him. (good bio page here; http://www.answers.com/topic/bill-nelson-musician) these tracks remind of the work he did on Trial by Intimacy (The Book of Splendors).
anyway, I've been running your Lucy station all morning & the whole household is digging it.

I'm inclined to agree with Absurdist Lover here - Gee Lucy was a little too simple and repetitive for me and could have used more modulation, whereas the tones have a little more breathing room in Ahh Lucy (which is lovely).
P.S. What kind of software are you guys using for these tunings?

Wow- Very beautiful for both of them. But once again, I believe that ahh is nicer than gee. Although Gee had lovely percussion- with the tabla and hard beat. (loved that)
Ahh is lovely because it's uplifting and keeps my eyebrows raised... hehe. Prolly cause I was just listening to gee at the lower pitch. You mix a kalimba sound with rhodes it sounds like- what a great sound! And the endings are both great, I just wish they elongated a little bit.
But most of all- That dirty guitar has got it- the grunging, the impurity in the pearl- it's got something... but it sounds so good in both of them.
Sorry again, feel like badness about never getting that file to you.
Talk & no walk...I hate it when that happens.
Yep, I'm going to re-confirm that Ahh Lucy has got it over Gee. It's hitting a 'spot' ya know what I mean...
(I still have the file if you want to btw...)

heh the start of gee lucy reminds me of a mangled orchestra.. ah tabla's now, excellent. ah fine melody change. there's lots of awesome percussion stuff in this one.. for example the thing @ 1.52.. or even earlier when there's a little filtered drum-loop. of course i could echo the comment about repetiveness. i think this one is very easy on the ears and that's why one would suspect a very "effective" build-up, adding pads/layers until this would be.. well.. i don't know. one could say this one is underdeveloped. (but i think it's pretty awesome anyway )
now let's hear the other one. i have high expectations. boards of canada kind of filtered vocal wails.. this has a messy p9fm start (which reminds me that the Gee one was more an obliminal track) maybe i'd prefer that one. hehe kalimba is sweet though. so i'll end with my usual remark: make sure to gather all those scale tracks at the end and create a (mp3) album.

Kylo - send the file over, I will use it for something

??? - no guitar in either of the tracks, just my over use of the Amplitude plugin in Pro Tools
despaley - The software I use is called Metasynth and it makes it very easy to use and create different tunings.
Ludo - BTW one of your vocal samples is on Gee.

I am thinking about doing another round of Lucy scale tunes with a release in mind. There's a certain producer that I would like to try to get to mix it. I have created a Lucy station here, so that they can all be listened to as a group.
Thanks again everyone for the feedback. The last track in the series, Be Lucy, will be dedicated to my wife, since she has given me plenty of honest feedback about these pieces. She thinks I undermine the "nice" sounds too often with what she calls "weird noises" and "scratches". So I am really going to try to keep this one on the nice end of the scale. Wish me luck

No guitar!? Well, I accept that, cause I know exactly what you're talking about. I've used the same sound effect to get that too. I need your email... never got it from yaz.

Gee Lucy - nice intro, I like the sound of that synth - is that FM synthesis? the one that's digital sounding and kinda arpegiates.
Very playful sounding. Parts of this I could see working as soundtrack music in a documentary.
=====
Ahh Lucy - I like the filtering, especially on the higher thin sounding synth part that comes and goes. I like the feel it creating in the sound wash that builds up to 2:00. I think this one could have gone on more - I could have listened to the zylophone/kaliba tone noodling around for another few minutes.
