Mkay, here we are- like I said: 3 car batteries on a nice solar setup. Able to accomodate a small or large T.V. AND computer if you please. I didn't want to drag my computer outside; it's dark inside. Once again, sorry about 5 megapixel picture- I forget after I upload...

Kylo - can you resize that down to around 700px wide?
This site is set to a max of 770px wide - anything over 700 will tweak out the layout.
Our photo service will resize your photos for you - so in the near future, you'll have it taken care of for you.

I'll tell Lou's dad about this - I could see him building and using one. Here in San Diego, we get all kinds of sunshine all year round - so maybe I should look into it too

k, one minuten...There we are. I'll do that from now on, just lazy. Wish my comp was a little more blazin' fast.
Also, if Lou's father knows anything about this stuff, he's more than likely going to think "well, that's simple..." Because all it is are basic principles. Although, if you are new to it, you might heat up a wire or two... I wanted George to see this, he was the one that asked. Has he come onto these froums yet?

I especially liked the silver maple leaf.
I'll show this set-up to my Dad and see what he thinks. He was an engineer with the phone company for over 30 years, so he's pretty handy. But you do have to keep a close eye on him...he's been known to blow things up, catch roofs on fire and even weld himself to objects. Really.

Matthew Florianz and his friend (I forget his name) have used similar setups (car batteries et all) to power their gear during live sets in places like the beach, the forest, etc.
Pretty cool.....

very cool indeed. can you tell us a little more about the panel? does it require direct sunlight, or does it do alright with indirect/diffused light (clouds)? are there other efficient ways of storing up that power? how much do them'thar things cost?
cool stuff man.

Thanks guys. Well, doof, the panel draws; in direct sunlight a good 15 volts in direct sunlight. The little 3 watt adds to it just a hair. I was wrong in my picture though, I just looked at the back of the panel and it's an 18 watt, not 15. Indirect sunlight usually takes it down to 14 watts but as for testing it like that- I haven't really tried it out. Makes me a little happier re-discovering I have more wattage for the 150 dollars I spent on it. I see them running now for $120 but that is probably because gas prices went down for shipment etc...HEY!! I hear that England had free gas a few days ago from my neighbor. Is that correct?? I thought he was B.S.ing me but he said that England had an overstock of Gasoline. But anyhow, like I said I've used the big solar panel so much for other things.
I used to take it everywhere with me in my car... It's my baby... The reason I had it in my car? Well, stuff like charging an ass-load of double AA batteries for my mp3 player all at once because I was impatient. Which is a bad idea. Remember the trial and error thing I was talking about? I made the mistake of leaving the 18 watt in direct sunlight charging 4 double AA in my car. It made the batteries literally expand and bubble around the seams on my car seat. I had no music that day It was my medicine.
As for other ways to store energy, I've always wanted to hook up a generator in the creek I live on. But I'm about as skilled as the majority of people on mechanical aspect of "making" something like that. Also, heat transfer is a great way to make current. That's a big project though, if you wanted you could make a little simple heat powered boat. The principle I'm talking about is in this diagram on this page...http://sci-toys.com/scitoys/scitoys/thermo/thermo.html#boat
