Hallucinatory Audacity
This is a excerpt from a soundscape that will run about three hours in length. The piece consists of loops and found sounds that randomly enter, evolve, pan and fade during the course of it's duration.
The soundscape will be the audio portion of a video installation that a local artist/activist/programmer is putting together for a (hopefully) future show (location TBA).
The installation will consist of twelve video monitors, of varying size, connected in an array to a MAC, placed around in the environment each displaying a random collage of some pretty abstract controversial thought provoking images of humanity and what we are doing to this planet and controlled by software written by the artist. My contribution is, of course, my soundscape as the audio portion. The plan is for it to run with the only light in the room being provided by the monitors. The audio will be my first attempt at a surround-sound mix and should (at least so far) fit nicely with the images being shown.
I know this isn't a new idea, but it's new to me and will be part of her thesis.
Should be fun... and interesting....
To give you an idea of what I will be doing musically I have uploaded a 14:46min "grab" from the audio that will be used during the installation. This is not a surround-sound mix, but just a regular ol' two channel mix, but should give you an idea of where I'm headed with this.
