I was just poking through my emails I get by subscription from Junodownload.com, and came across this:
Martijn Ten Velden - Together
This is basically Wintermute's anthem "Hope" dressed up in club garb. I think the similarity is unintentional, though. It's great to see two different takes on the same chord progression.
When I was younger I used to think that you had to come up with entirely new chord progressions or you were guilty of plagiarism. But then I considered the mathematical impossibility of millions of artists worldwide coming up with entirely new four-chord chord progressions, especially since so many of them will want (legitimately, I think) to use conventional rules for composition. So what do you guys think? Plagiarism, or ripples of karma?
This life is a joke, and nobody's laughing.
