Please stop by the homepage for ArtistServer and take a look at the new layout. We're now using a better Flash mp3 player, and it can load any playlist on the site!
As usual, there are 2 versions of the homepage...
Not Signed In: If you are not signed in, on the left side, you will see a login form and a listing of our top genres, along with two randomly selected featured songs (selected from artists with account upgrades).
Signed In: If you are signed in, the homepage becomes more of a 'dashboard' for you. You'll see there's links and buttons to take you into your MyAccount area, so you can manage your site and content, in addition to a listing of everything in your 'favorites.' If you don't see anything listed - it means you haven't added anything or anyone to your favorites. You can add Genres, Songs, Artists, Members, and Playlists to your favorites.
On the right side of the screen - if you are signed in or not, you'll see the new mp3 player. Below this, is a place where you can browse and find playlists to load into the player. One of the browsing options is 'artists' - which only outputs artists with account upgrades.
===========
I've tested the new layout with Firefox, IE6 and IE7 on the PC, and will test it on a mac in a few...
enjoy

Very nice.
I did notice that songs names that have an ' in the title such as "She's Gone" appear in the player as "She%27s Gone".
I also noticed that the player resets itself when I log out. Anyway of having stay with whatever you are playing at the time?
not an Obliminal thought in his head

yes - i'll have to create a new function for cleaning strings of text - that one is for URLs, which is what the ' is getting changed to the code version - just like a space is %20 in a URL.

well - yes and no. Normally, no - that's a matter of 'state' and when you reload a page, it's state has changed. One option is to write cookies, or sending your current selection to the server to store in a session variable. But even with cookies, I'd have to capture what you currently have in the player and write it to cookie upon leaving a page. Hmm... i'll have to think about it. I do believe there's a flash mp3 player out on the web that does this - but that one lacks the external control I have with the current one (it can call new playlists through javascript calls on the page).
This will keep evolving I'm sure one of the next moves will be to replace the mp3 player in the popup favorites window. If you use your popup favorites, you can even browse other websites and have the player running in the popup.
