I haven't posted or added a new song in a very long time. I still remember lots of names around here though.
I guess i'm prone to random switches in hobbies. I got really addicted to building guitar FX pedals and it's like all I do now. I've always been good with electronics, soldering. It became really satisfying making fuzz boxes and just about any other effect you've heard of. I've been selling off lots and it's pretty cool. I've been playing guitar much more too now. I hope to get back into recording and making songs. My job is pretty rough and tiring. Even though weekends are free, I keep spending time on stompboxes.
So anyways hi to anybody who remembers Focalized, AUX and David Mills songs. I'll try and get back to electronic music sometime. I see many familiar people still grinding out tunes. I come and listen once in a while.
Here's my myspace pic page with many of the pedals i've made. I love painting them too. Some are basic with designed labeling, some are painted in a random, abstract swirl technique. Fuzz Faces are my favorite to make

I remember the night you first posted a David Mills track. I think I thought it sounded like 'Cocteau Twins'. Regardless I was impressed.
Good to see you're still active with audio in one form or another. Love the pedals.

Hey Scott! How are things
the pedals look great
so did you find some classic designs then tweak them to your liking?
Do you use tubes? I have a fairly large overdrive pedal made by a small company - it's called a varidrive - it has a tube inside, along w/ low/mid/hi EQ settings and a volume and drive knob - it packs a nice punch - just found a link. From what I've read, the orig. Ibanez Tube Screamer is one of the best/most sought after overdrive/distortion pedals. Any idea what makes them so 'hot'? Trey from Phish used to play w/ 2 in serial, one for main solos, then he'd kick the 2nd on and get endless sustain (haaving a semi-hollow body custom guitar helps too).
Have you tried a Ring Modulator or Dynamic Filter yet?
I hope all is well - If you haven't checked out the last few years of tunes I've released, stop by my page - I should have a few you haven't heard. I've been recording w/ a lot more guitar and bass over the years.
Thanks for stopping by and dropping us an update.

Hey you guys. Nice my stuff is remembered. Seems pretty slow around here. At least people are still making tracks.
Most of the pedals I make are classic designs. I started buying kits from a couple places. And I'm able to build simple stuff from scratch. Very addicting. I've sold off many and make a bit of profit.
www.buildyourownclone.com and www.generalguitargadgets.com
They sell basic popular designs from simple fuzzes to delays. There's lots more and a very active and large group of people into making pedals. Many people tweak and make new designs all the time. Most share with others to make and play around with. Building either by scratch on blank circuit board or actually etching their own printed boards. People are always trading and selling pedals or parts too.
I've never used a tube in anything. I'd like to make an amp sometime. Tube Screamers are very popular mainly because Stevie Ray Vaunghan hyped them ridiculously. Everybody thinks they can get his tone with just a pedal. Same with many classic pedal and their famous users. A Screamer is a great overdrive and very common and easy to make and tweak. Many expensive drives are just variations on the Screamer. Some boutique built pedals, new and old are sold at crazy high prices and they probably cost about $30 in parts.
No ringmodulators. A few envelope filter. Like auto-wah.

I'd like to see unconventional fx pedals made from old hard drives, fm radios, kids electronic toys, etc.
Like circuit bending stuff, but made as fx boxes to run instruments through.

Yeah, a lot of guys make some really cool FX out of junk. I've yet to try something like that. I really like painting them right now. One thing about building in anything but a metal box is grounding and shielding issues.
Sonic, I checked out some of your tracks again. I believe I love your Dub-like tracks the best.

What about assembling an fx unit made out of tech junk, like old computer parts and kids toys yet house it inside a metal box?
Now that I'd be interested in.

Oh yeah, if it's metal and the circuit fits, no problem.
Here's a massive thread where people show off their work. Just quickly, on page 3 there's a model car build into a stomp box. Lighting and switching boxes from the hardware store are popular.

wow - that is 1 loooooooooong thread. I looked though about 40pgs - that's quite a cool hobby/side job - I can see how it would take a lot of your time. Thanks for posting the link.
