Starts off very relaxed. Love the delayed chimes/gongs.
Cool big bass, gets washed a little in the mix but I realize a bass that big is difficult to separate from other elements.
Like the S&H electro lead, raises the song up a lot.
Nice string section.
This could have gone on longer, I would have kept listening.

Thanks.
I'm getting better at mixing on the fly. Jam sessions are tighter now and I'm actually at the point were I'm producing decent half arsed songs. Doing my best to cut the umbilical cord to the computer and only using it to record what I play (or edit samples for the ES-1). It's nice having a setup that doesn't rely on or require a computer to make the music. I no longer have to take the laptop with me when I session out with other musicians.
I still don't have a proper means of videoizing what I do, which is fine 'cause I don't have a hand model to sub in for me yet either.

Thanks again for listening....

First thing I noticed on this - you're doing short songs now Steve? ;) Like the delayed melodies, somewhere between easy going and abstract, always a good midground. Builds up nicely - despite the short track length, nothing's rushed here as it goes into the bigger sounding string section, some lovely melodic lines there too. And then calmer and more melancholy again for the outro. Lovely work as ever.

Hey, like this one. Especially the gamelan-like sounds in the intro...
The sound quality could be better, the track sounds a bit 'muffled'...if that's a correct english term...

Sorry to hear of that. I'm running the gear I use now (ES-1, KO-1, AN200, TG33, DS-10) into a UB1202 and then into a 24bit external "Live" card and then listen to the mix on M-Audio AV40's. Sounds pretty good to me.

Thanks for taking the time to listen, though. You know I appreciate it...

I'm listening again on my Mackie HR824's and only the delayed steel drums sound like they should be brighter.

Maybe needless to say, but...it doesn't sound bad to me...I would have given the mix more highend..

What can I say... I dig a big bottom end...

Seriously...
I've been giving your words a great deal of consideration last couple weeks and I think I've figured out what you're referring to. At least as far as sound is concerned.
Back around the beginning of July I re-configured the hardware setup in my meager studio and since then have been trying to figure out why my "sound" is different. Not due to hardware or anything but the overall sound that I get out of the hardware itself.
I've fiddled with settings, levels, EQ, all that jazz but couldn't figure out what changed the sound so radically. Then I finally got around to checking cable configurations and discovered I had connected the cables from the AN200 to the UB1202 incorrectly. Instead of left out to left in, right out to right in I had headphone out to left in and right out to right in. WTF??
I'm still scratching me noggin' over that one.

Anywho...
Things sound a whole bunch better now. Still get lots of big bottom end (like me likes) and a nice top end too as well as a much clearer sound overall.
I blame the meds...

Expect better results from me in the future.
