Hi all!
Been busy digitizing my old cassettes and sometimes trying to find out what the name of the song and/or band was. Sometimes I didn't even know what it was when I recorded it, otherwise I would have wrote it in the cass. index-sheet. Anyway.....to make a long story short....although sometimes it's possible to find out what it is (hurray for Internet!), I'm still looking for the title/band for a particular song...what to do? Google didn't do the trick....

Maybe put an mp3 of the song on your webspace (here or other host). Note the url. Get a blip.fm account (free). Go to "settings" and heading "music". Enter the URL to the piece and save. Then you can mouse over the listing of the song and get the blip.fm link to the song. This process hides the source of the file. It makes for easy sharing. Then you can post the link to it here and elsewhere and ask people to identify it. Or, skip most of that and just put a link to the mp3 and take it down when you get your answer. Option, try one of those cell phone services where it samples the music your phone hears and maybe identifies it.

any lyrics in the song that you can search on?
speaking of old tapes... I was listening to a mix I made back in college while driving to the store, and suddenly, it stopped, and flipped to side B... gasp! I ejected it, then spent the next 10 min in the parking lot w/ a pencil trying to rotate the tape around and fix it - I finally laughed and thought... damn, I sure don't miss this process.

Me neither...I had one of those 2 days ago....it stopped during digitizing....I pressed play again, but a few secs later had to play stop because the tape was running outside the cassette and into the deck.....

I had a box of cassette tapes that I drug around the country for years. It had a lot of my earliest audio experiments with simple stop and go recordings of random stuff I found from other sources. Sadly I had to leave them all behind in a persons house that I'll never see again. Lot of memories that probably ended up in a land fill somewhere
Sorry for getting slightly off topic
Good luck with your endeavors ABC.

My old reel-to-reel tapes upon which I'd recorded my grandma telling stories and 10th grade fun and frolic and fire hall performances of our psychedelic band doing 'Help I'm A Rock' and stuff all got ruined in the great hurricane agnes basement flood of 1972. Sometimes I dream I find those tapes and they're okay again, but alas . . .

That really sucks, Sub...fortunately I still have most (all?) of my recordings (not only my music), but now it was the time to secure most of them....
