Well, we thought the worst was over, but with three of the fires still burning, the returning Santa Ana winds could create yet another 'firestorm' by Sunday. Next to my office I have the CDF Camp which is 'home' to all of the firefighters from around the country who came to help us. It's amazing! There are hundreds of tents and dozens of signs with various versions of 'Thank you!' and 'You rock!' written on them. At a time when we should be focusing on rebuilding we are now just filled with more anxiety. (sigh). 
How about you folks in Florida? Are you ready for Noel? My thoughts are with you...

Won´t most of the people be able to claim insurance? The ones that were insured of course!

Yes, IF they had fire insurance, it SHOULD help. But you have to watch out for the loop-holes, the scams, and the unfortunate mistakes...like letting your insurance lapse, or not having increased the value to reflect your home's current worth.
Right now they have several 'Service Stations' set up around the county helping everyone who lost property in the fires. FEMA, Red Cross, DMV, the county recorders office, etc...they're all there helping people get the permits they need, replace the documents and titles they lost, and I've heard that most of they are waiving their fees, too. 
A little good news: we did have some heavy fog and a light drizzle today and I've heard that the Santa Ana winds will not be as strong as they first suspected. Yea! Maybe this fire season is truly over for San Diego.
