You broke a visual design commandment: Never have background and foreground elements that are in similar shades/hues. Not only does it look totally flat but as has been pointed out, it makes it much harder to read.

this is true. however the filter that did that also made the cool looking red color around the star for the dimension of pain and suffering look. hmm maybe ill keep working on it
