Hi. A new Focalized song.
Created on: 02/14/10 12:05 AM Replies: 8

Boy it's slow here. On the forum. Still lots of songs though. I put a new set up together with Cubase and some gear to record mics, bass and guitar. I really want to be productive but it's a challenge. Learning to use the software properly is interesting. Clipping is my nemesis.

Have about eight cool things in the works. I still seem to retain a certain style no matter what I make tracks in.

Here's a new track that's minimal as usual, but cool I think.

cool tune man - it has a bit of a haunting feel to it. Very unique bass part. Great drums and overall sound.

yep - the forums are very slow, but on the rest of the site, we're seeing a good amount of traffic. I guess ppl are more into posting to twitter, facebook and well established music forums these days. The forums here tends to be a small group of old school members, along with the occasional random promotion by someone we've never heard of.

Please keep sharing the tunes Smile You may want to also consider running a remix project for at least one of them. The 'music projects' tool we offer here is free to use, and helps you create and manage a remix project. You'll find it in the Settings/My Account area, under 'My Stuff' - near the music link.

Thanks for checking it out. I'm still learning how and what I can use Cubase for. Recording an all. My biggest issue is getting average volume without clipping. Compared to tracks I hear elsewhere.

Added another track. Built from a bassline while I was learning to record. Familiar riff most likely. Almost turned into a cover.

Listening to Pathless... the guitar riff made me think we were heading into a metal track for a moment, ha. I like the way the first synth doesn't directly follow the guitar but seems a bar ahead, or behind. Took me by surprised and definitely made me listen. Very tribal (literally) sounding around the 2 minute mark, this is nice. Quite dark, moody. Yeah, enjoying this.
Drug use for children has for many an education and with obvious alarm to both parents on the increase almost yearly.

Nice track. I like overall sound and instruments build up.
After 2 minutes from the start, guitar loop and harmony become a little bit tedious imo. Maybe a bit chord change or some other sort of breakdown would work.

Hey thanks for listening. Pathless is a pretty simple track I know. It was the first little bassline test I recorded and so I made what I could out it learning my new setup. Could go countless ways of course but then I'd never have a track. It's in a strange time sig like 6/4 or something. The riffs kind of weave around each other.

Pretty laid back piece.

Sounds like some clipping going on with the guitar, maybe you wanted that?

Your other project is David Mills right?

Yeah the guitar, actually the bass high notes, is clipped. I just having hard times getting volume comparable to most recordings without clipping. Need to keep working on it. I think I always have the drums too loud.

I have a really nice drum, bass and keyboard track going that sounds very real (as in band) that I want to perfect soon.

I do David Mills too. And AUX. And Disposable Sound Factory. Ten years of stuff piled up.

Yeah, I prefer your David Mills sound more.
