To some, this announcement will sound like a spam. I do not mean to spam people. I simply mean to inform some people who I know and respect.
I would love to introduce to you a new recording label that I have just started: it is called Triple Bath it is based in Athens it is accomodated at www.triplebath.gr it is releasing limited editions of either 96 or 76 copies on CDR with color artwork
Experimental music of the following forms, styles and genres: ambient (drone / dark) noise (minimal / granular) electroacoustic music contemporary classical (minimal, serial) concrete music / sound collage free jazz / free improvisation
Triple Bath took breath because of the good yet unheard music that is wandering around hence it is here to accumulate the harvest of some promising voices in the experimental scene.
? first envisioned this label in the summertime of 2003, when I began a remix project for a track of mine here, on Artist Server. The correspondence from artists from Greece, England, Holland and the USA with 10 remixes in total was the spark for the creation of a compilations with all the remixes included, the original track called Triple Bath and a remix of mine. It was then that also came to me the idea of Triple Bath. For the history, I sent the cdr with remixes in all who participated and this was all.
So now, I am proud to announce to you the first release on Triple Bath:
(((stereofect))) - PING
Steve Burr, under the pseudonym (((stereofect))), offers a three-part live improvisation relying on two of his beloved hybrid instruments, the MFB Synth-Lite and the Frostwave Resonator. Extreme analog sonics, menacing drones and wobbly tones along with vast amounts of noise, distortion and digital clipping, being crucial attributes of the program, suggest eternal, megalithic instincts, results of the surrounding toxic aura throughout the settings of PING.
CATALOG NO..trb.001 DATE OF RELEASE November 3, 2006 QUANTITY limited edition of 96 copies
INFO about the label, the artists, the releases, audio samples and ordering on the website of Triple Bath at www.triplebath.gr.
Thanks!

First review is in. It's from Frans de Waard who runs a weekly review magazine called the Vital Weekly.
Quote:On a new label from Greece, called Triple Bath, we encounter Steve Burr, who calls himself (((stereofect))), which is nicely written as such. In 1989 he got his first music computer, an Atari 1040st, but he also played in rock bands. Since 1988 is his primary work lies in working in the studio and currently dark ambient is his main big interest. On 'Ping' he uses two of hybrid instruments, the MFB Synth-lite and the Frostwave Resonator. I never heard of these things, but Burr crafts three pieces of dark ambient industrial music together, following the best traditions of Lustmord, but more rhythmic. Loaded with reverb to emphasize the menacing character of the music, and which sometimes works against, sounds sizzle, hissle, trissle from the darkest corners of the sound spectrum, something like a rusty chain, sometimes like air being carved into a statue and overall, make a solid (hey, heavy) impression on the listener, although occasionally a bit distorted. Music wise perhaps not the strongest example of musical innovation, but nice enough. (FdW)
Funny thing is... I didn't use any reverb at all on this one. In fact I don't own a reverb unit. All I use is a RPH-10 a RSD-10 and a ART FXR for FX.

The review is good. Frans de Waard is sometimes rather strict

Cheers man!

I’ve been listening to PING all evening and fwiw, here’s my take on it...
Much of these three compositions is built upon a broad spectrum of noise - including distortion & clipping (both of which I can be a big fan of if used to reach an aesthetic goal - ask Themis ;), but intelligently sculpted. All three compositions have the same tangibility as Steve’s previous work with, perhaps, a more assertive edge overall. The sound is well contained yet manages to achieve an implied immensity; the hum, rumble and growl of huge magnetic fields - the sun blasting against the Van Allen belt - a Kali-esque dance of rejuvenative destruction.
Tides of static wash over deep wells of resonance replicating themselves from an open chaos into ever thickening, tightening outwardly reaching web of sonic permutations, or is honed into slow motion cascades of serrated blades, or simmers and percolates into recombinant tremors, or distills into rhythmic wave pulses, and then moves on to its next incarnation.
From one perspective these pieces, particularly the last two, could certainly fit the description of abstract ambience, but they all contain a character that is dynamic and resonant with their own internal energy; evolutionary. This is the natural advantage of 'live' improvisation. Yet at the same time they hold together like a collection of preconceived studio pieces. I have no idea how much structural overlay there is here, but if there is no conscious roadmap then there is certainly a gestalt that succeeds.
And to my way of thinking it does have an innovative quality realized through the simplicity of execution. I really like the idea of taking some fairly basic pieces of hardware and stretching their potentials to create vast intriguing canvasses. Obviously this is by no means the first time this has been done, but in my opinion each time anyone succeeds in creating something provoking from minimal beginnings, it is innovative.
(Plus it sounded verby to me too - which is a good thing ;)

Wow... thanks Michael!!
I had a lot of fun performing these tracks (track one is my personal fav). Fortunately it was to a group that appreciates this kind of stuff.
I'm a big fan of improv, so yes... they are "spur of the moment" "on the fly" type tracks.
Also... I misled y'all in a previous post. I do in fact own a reverb. There are a couple reverb selections on the FXR but they are pretty much useless and I never use them. I get a enough depth and space out of the phaser and two delays I use.
Thanks again Michael!

glad you liked the review. happy to do it. it's a good listen.
I remember when we used to play in bands, we'd run through git boxes but basically turn the effect to zero just to get the ambient verb.
