Anyone a Mountain Dulcimer player?

Years ago my folks purchased a Mountain Dulcimer kit for me, and 2 weekends ago, I finally pulled it out and started building it.
This is a photo of a kit that is similar to mine:
Although the sides in my kit are not shaped like they are in the photo, I have to build a 'jig' and clamp and bend the sides to the hourglass shape.
I'm not sure how long this will take, as I'll probably do a little here and a little there - I also need to work out what I want the sound holes to look like. Lou and I were talking about making it look less traditional and giving it some flames for sound holes and painting it like an electric guitar
Here are some vids featuring Mountain Dulcimers if you aren't familiar:
If this works out - I may try a to build a guitar next

Is that 'Michael Row Your Boat Ashore' he's playing in that first video?
Sounds beautiful.

I bet it would sound great with one of these
I've got one and it sounds great multi-tracked.
Don't forget the embedded LED's between the frets.
not an Obliminal thought in his head

it's a work in progress - I plan to only work on it on the weekends, so it come together over the next few months.
Right now, I've done the following:
* sanded the headstock down to fine * sanded the neck down to medium * created the 2 missing wedge pieces * went to Home Depot and picked up the C-clamps, wood glue, and a board to build the jig
I tend to juggle many projects at once and float around between them
=====
P9FM... LEDs in the frets... hmm. I was thinking about adding an acoustic pickup in the body. LEDS would look cool - esp, if they were triggered by the playing somehow.
