I'd like to be notified by email when an artist I follow releases a new track ..It's so easy to miss some belters unless you trawl everyday.

Hi Uncle Reg - I'll post a list of features for the new version of the site once I get closer to a launch date. Things can and certainly will change between now and the relaunch of the site.
Some areas and features will be removed - as they add fat to the site and are either not used much or not used correctly. Like the Remix Project tool - this addition to the site was a complete failure - as only 1-2 people seemed to understand what it was, and the rest are not using it correctly. Another example is these forums - they are no longer used nor necessary for the site, therefore they'll be removed when the new site launches. My suggestion to people is to use the blogging tool more - it too allows for posts and replies.
Pinging ppl with an email when a new track is uploaded - I'll look into this. For now, you can follow their RSS feed - all browsers now support RSS to some degree. RSS links are at the bottom of every artist page. We also have one RSS feeds for all songs by Genre as well as all songs on the site - http://www.artistserver.com/webservices/

cheers Gideon....another good idea would be to have a 'highest chart position acheived' as an attribute of the song object .... yeah ... i'm an OOP as well ... shows what was good previously...gives oomph tae late listeners....but as you say ...nearer the time eh ? good luck with the debugging....I use C++ for my object programming... no use for the the net but the 'object' thing is the same eh ? .....java is clunky and also sucks for time wasting.... I'm sure you'll do fine... Andrew. (O) PS I love hittin' your charts... so do many....
