Hello everyone. I'm still around. Just. Not had a soundcard for ages so been avoiding musicy computery stuff. But thought I'd pop back in again as I haven't posted for an age and have exciting news. How is everyone? Anything exciting been going on with people here? Releases? Record contracts? Good to see some old names after browsing.
Right. Bit of spam to get me going.
Second Thought - Vacuum Road Songs
Vaccum Road Songs picks up exactly where Purlieu left off, leaving the cold, desolate countryside for the more human world of a big city. However, as we walk from the city's edge to its chaotic centre, it becomes obvious that the built up, hectic metropolis is not the safe haven originally thought, and the listener becomes lost and disoriented and even more lonely than in the countryside. Yet, through this confused melancholy and anxiety, there still shines through beauty hidden within the chaos. Vacuum Road Songs is Ross Baker's second fully realised album as Second Thought, and takes the previous album's soundscapes, stuttering glitches and beatless ambience and applies them to harsher breakbeats, clattering IDM, driving techno and more melancholy ambient. Featuring a wider range of live instruments and field samples, the album is a successful themeatic and stylistic follow-up to 2004's Purlieu.
001. Borderline 002. Street 003. Rooms 004. Building 005. Fences 006. Rooftops 007. Vehicle 008. Tiwhwias 009. Machine 010. Selfdrive 011. Archway 012. Water Or Jazz 013. Rooftops 014. Night
Blah-de-blah. You can read the story that goes with the album on the website (http://www.secondthought.co.uk - click on Vacuum Road) and hear short clips of each track. There are also download links for tracks from it in the discography, although Machine and Rooftops have been all over the internet for a while now, so to speak. Album will be put out by Jerky Oats Records, part of my final year university project, and will be available from May 14th through the website and at gigs. There will be an internationally distributed release later in the year.
Anyway, I hope everyone's good!

Remixes will appear one day, not sure of the format yet though. Maybe an EP, we shall see, I have a set of six brilliant ones. Gonna see how it all goes with the album!
