Improvements to streaming and downloading soon!

I'm working on some site updates and changes to both lower our running costs, and to greatly improve music uploading, downloading, and streaming.
Part of the change includes removing the 'lofi' play option. These links have been removed from the site, and all lofi mp3s will be deleted. I hope in the future, that the site will be able to offer universal LoFi options, by encoding them on the server.
The main portion of this change, is moving all the music off of our servers, and hosting the music in the 'cloud' with Amazon.com's Web Service (S3). By moving the music files to this platform, we will no longer have a bottleneck on the number of files that can be uploaded or streamed at a time. This will also improve the performance of the site since our server will no longer be handling all the mp3 files.
At a later date, I hope to move the photo hosting to Amazon's services too, which will further improve ArtistServer's performance, and our capacity, while keeping our running costs low.
From a user experience perspective, you should only notice improvements in speed. I believe we'll also gain the means to skip around in a song while streaming without it starting over.
I'll post back once the transition is complete - in addition to recoding portions of the site, I have to transfer over 9,000 mp3 files to the new location.

The ability to bit-forward to different points in a song being streamed is much desired for reviewing songs. I hope that is available with the new service.
Transferring 9000 tracks? (gulp). My heart goes out to you.
I think this is a very interesting move Gideon, and it would be interesting to see how the Amazon.com service integrates, and works with the site. I am wondering if the Amazon service would be allowing artists to optionally sell the music via Amazon.com, or is it strictly a generic cloud hosting service attuned to ArtistServer.com?
Unloading the streaming to other services providers should make a huge difference, both to your expenses, as well as to site performance.
