Hi,
Is this a mix of your own music or is this a download of other people's music?
I'm thinking this is more a dj mix - is it not illegal to share other people's music like this?

I don't think this belongs here at all and think it should be deleted.

Yeah - illegal mixes and file sharing are not allowed. C.M.F. - do not post links to illegal downloads on my site - thank you.
I'm not going to delete the thread - just removing the link.
I think MusicV2 is doing a horrible service to music if it's designed around the idea that you can rip off people's music through these mixes.
My guess, the site hides behind their DMCA policy, waiting for lawyers to request material to be removed instead of being proactive and not allowing illegal uploads. Which is a cheap and easy way for the site to gain popularity and traffic on the backs of commercial artists with zero compensation.

You know, sometimes it's tricky to put your finger on this stuff. People can't figure out how to draw the line when it comes to arranging a "project".
My projects consists of much shorter stock sounds placed into one track. DJs do the same but with much longer files... that are considered "done" or completed by others.
Stock sounds are completed and trademarked as well- but that's all I'm able to compose with because I bought software. This is why it's tough to call people on DJ compilations.

Yeah - I guess the CC License is the best way round this. Personally I like getting my music on mixes. Spreads the word a bit.

I don't see what's so tricky about it, but I do know from a decade of paying attention to copyrights and music, that a lot of people do not understand it. For example, I think the most common misconception around copyright, is that people think it's ok to use, distribute, or share a protected work because they aren't selling it nor making a profit. Which is indeed not the case. Selling and profit are secondary to the topic - the primary issue, is protecting the work and limiting it's use.
If it's a commercial released piece of music, it's 99.99% most likely that the music is protected by copyright, and you'll need to secure the rights to; release a cover version, distribute the original, sample a section from, include on a compilation or mix.
Using samples and stock sounds from a sample CD 'can' have limitations too, but most do not limit you on selling or distributing your works which consists of the samples/sounds.
Kylo - a trademark is what you would see on a name or a phrase, not a piece of 'work' or art.
>>>DJs do the same but with much longer files... that are considered "done" or completed by others.
When a DJ releases a commercial mix - the label secures all the rights for each song. When a DJ spins at a club - the club is paying to a musical rights organization. Same with cover bands - the clubs are paying a musical rights org for the rights to have the music in their clubs.
>>>Personally I like getting my music on mixes. Spreads the word a bit.
Same here - that's why my music is free. I still want to know if it's happening - but people aren't required to notify me. In the case of a custom 'mix' - I would hope the person includes a playlist with the artist and song names along with links. At least that's how I'd do it

I hate copyright. Not because I think its a bad idea, I just hate the fact that it's a running battle. It's another one of those "grey" areas where the rule of law gets bogged down in litigation. And if there ever is a resonable resolution to any conflict the actual owner of the copyright rarely ever gets properly compensated. Like Dick the Butcher says: "First thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers."
