In a recent number of Future Music they had an article and free samples with that theme, some weird but good stuff.
Go for it i say, what stuff have you got? A speak & spell? Casio Rapman?

According to SonicState News:
Quote:Next Wednesday 25th April sees the continuation of our Top 20 Greatest Synths IPTV series. Things are hotting up as we get to the dizzy heights of the top 5 and the synths in positions 5, 4 and 3. This episode is going to be longer than the others have been so far and we will be featuring demos and plenty of sounds ands patches this time around as that seems to be what many of you want to hear. These three synths have been on more records than you could wiggle a mod wheel at but they are not all universally loved - look out for the vitriolic comments levelled at one particular model. so what did Yamaha expect when they gave us buttons and menus instead of knobs and sliders? There are also exclusive Sonic interviews with Dave Smith of Sequential Circuits, Chris Stone & Gary Davies (the chaps who wrote the DX manuals) and Chris Macleod - engineer for Keith Emerson.

I knew it. Though it really comes as no surprise.
If you can't afford the real thing but would be happy with a really good virtual version then try this one on for size. I think you'll dig it. I know I do.

Perhaps they thought it was suffice with one Acid synth, SH-101? But there is no denying the influcence of the TB-303, after all we had enough emulations of it, probably the most overused synth sound of the 90´s, a bit like the DX-7 from the 80´s, hehe..
But where did the Nord Modular go? Or the advanced FS1r with about 3000 parameters and formant sequences? I personally love the micromodular that i´ve just started using.
Great fun to check those videos out and i must say i was more impressed with the Arp Odyssey than the Mini Moog, seemed to have more modulation possibilities? Anyone here have one of these synths? Only one i have on that list is a JV-1080!
Don´t get me wrong it´s a great synth but anyone of those top from the top 3 would be cool to own .

I hated the sound of the DX-series at one point....In those days I thought it sounded too clean.
But I soon found out it was also great for producing dirty metallic-sounding sounds and let's not forget those beautifull bell-sounds. So, many years ago I bought the DX21 (DX7 was too expensive for me).
Speaking of the 21, I haven't used it in years...plugins, you know...

I really liked the overall sound of the DX7IID that I used to have, but it was a bitch (literally) to program. Getting anything usable out of it was tedious, time consuming and often frustrating. I gave up and got rid of it. I find the FM7 much easier to use and program and it sounds awesome.

I really like the Nord line of synths. A Nord Modular would be pretty cool to own. Friend of mine has a Nord Lead 2 and graciously let me borrow it for a couple weeks. It was REALLY hard to give it back. I got totally hooked on it. That thing was/is capable of some of the most unique sounds.

I would expect to see more of the Roland synths listed in the lower digits, though the SH-101 is a great start and an extremely versatile synth. From Roland: Juno 106, Jupiter 6/8 (MKS80), would be a good listing. The Sequential Circuits Pro-One as well as the Prophet-5. The very under-rated Korg Poly-800, which must have been used on as many songs as the ubiquitous Yamaha DX-7 that so many people are mentioning. For newer gear, stand-outs include the Yamaha AN1-X, the very deep Korg Prophecy and the Korg Wavestation AD. The Waldorf Microwave XT and the Access Virus I would also expect to find in the list. Too bad there is no specificity about drumsynths or sampling synths; if so, I would add the Kurzweil K2000 and the Jomox Airbase-99 to the list. drone operator http://droneoperator.com http://myspace.com/droneoperator http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=355781
