Subtronik - Air

It's a trippy dark breaks piece using my own pitch shifted vocals.

Cool man - works very well - I like the quarter note mid-tone sound that almost functions like a mid-bass. The various sounds/noises moving around the mix sound great.
I just think it could be a bit shorter based on the overall piece, either that, or introduce another element in the 2nd half to give it more of a change.

Hey Sub, sounds good, clean, but not in a way it bothers me...funky enough.... Also listened on my studiomonitors and this also sounded good.....
I disagree with Gideon about the length of the track: IMHO it's the perfect length...

Glad to hear it sounds good on studio monitors. I was very close to sending it out to have it professionally mastered but decided I really need to learn how to do that myself since I do everything else too.
Thanks for the reply.

Hey Sub, it sounds good on my monitors, but it can sound better...don't underestimate what a professional engineer can do with mastering your track....I know what I'm talking about.....

I realize that having a different set of ears master something you've worked on can really bring out the best in your sound, but I want to learn how to do everything myself.
But if at some point I'm offered free mastering from a net label then I'll be more than happy to let someone else do it

I'm listening to it using a SB Live 24bit external with M-Audio AV-40's connected to it and your mix sounds awesome.

From the perspective of someone who listens to his own music and cringes at how flat and dead it sounds compared to 'professional' stuff, I can say this sounds pretty great.
Really good choice of sounds in here, anyway. Some of your synths have a... hmm, gangsta hip-hop vibe? Haha. It's all very sinister and angry in a good way. The glitchy sounds in there... well, I'm a fan of them when they're not overused and they're placed perfectly in this track. Very good stuff. Not sure I'd agree that it's massively overlong, personally I'd trim maybe 30 seconds off it perhaps, but it doesn't particularly outstay its welcome.
This is the first track I've played all evening that my girlfriend's perked up and asked "what's this??", and she's pretty picky, especially when it comes to electronic music, so that's a bigger compliment than my attempted critique could ever be!

Thank you for the in depth critique Ross. The fact that your girlfriend thought it unique enough to ask about made me very happy.

I like this, very dark, very funky and I agree with others comments, the sound is very nice, it has a good balanced feel, and is very clear. The mix is well done also. It does feel quite angry, or very aggressive in its beat, bass, and its incessant drive. Agree with Gideon on the mid range synth hook, very effective that. Reminds of the night club sequence in the film Outland.
Cheers, Pete
