Can´t stream AS mp3´s....
Created on: 03/28/07 11:36 AM Replies: 4

Gideon, i have a problem! Ummm... what?

I can´t stream off AS anymore?? Everywhere else is fine but not from here? I am on Firefox 1.5.0.7. with an iMac using OSx with the damned Quick Time crap of an mp3 player? I have tried to install a few alternatives but Quick Time seems to take over only now it refuses to stream at all, nothing happens, it seems as though it is buffering (it say´s it is) but when you press play (it won´t stream automatically) nothing happens, wtf is going on? I´ve tried changing the preferences in Quick Time but there doesn´t seem to be much to change and changes don´t do affect my problem. This has been going on the last few weeks, can´t keep in touch with the new stuff on AS anymore, damn??!!! Anger - grrrrrr! I don't know Confused R U O K ?

Thanks for any support on this problem. Cool, right on.

Hey - just my luck! uhg!

no ITunes installed?

>>with the damned Quick Time crap of an mp3 player?

yeah - QuickTime is indeed a poor option for an mp3 player

>>I have tried to install a few alternatives but Quick Time seems to take over

You need to set this in Firefox - it needs to know that .m3u and .mp3 belong to whatever app you are installing.

not really sure - aside from QT obviously not liking the stream, or the headers.

I´ve tried changing the preferences in Quick Time but there doesn´t seem to be much to change and changes don´t do affect my problem.

I'm streaming from AS right now on my Mac IBook OSX from Firefox - it pops a dialog box up asking what I want to do - and the default app to handle the m3u is iTunes - I click OK - and it starts streaming.

=================

Install iTunes - then launch Firefox - open the preferences - under "Downloads" - you'll see a button for "View & Edit Actions" - click on that - locate M3U and MP3 - and set it to use iTunes.

Thanks for your suggestions Gideon, we do actually have I-tunes installed but it doesn´t automatically stream internet mp3´s so i´ll try and change the settings as described. Cool, right on.

Will let you know if it helps.zoned out

At last it works!! Woah WTF!? Very Happy

The problem was that if you press the stream button nothing happens? But by chance i tried the download button and lo and behold Firefox asks if i want to open the file or download it. WTF?

At last i can check out Carl Eichmann, hidden symmetry suite pt. 3. music... Cool, right on.

If that is the case, then something must still own m3u on your computer, or something isn't set up correctly.

I streamed with iTunes just fine.

Did you locate the settings as described above? If you delete the m3u entry - the next time you try an m3u - it should ask you what to do.
