A sure sign it's spring...
Created on: 03/28/07 06:07 AM Replies: 5

Yup... it's springtime... finally.

oh yeah!

It's been unseasonably warm round here this week. Snow is pretty much all gone now. Everything is a lovely shade of dead. Erm... brown that this. And as a direct result just about any type of wildlife you can think of (native to here of course) is on the move.

And the road-kill proves it.

I mean rabbits, raccoons, skunks, 'possums, groundhogs are always gettin' run over... by me and every other driver out there... but right now the coyotes (which do a nice job of cleaning up the road-kill btw), foxes and deer (especially at night) are roaming the country-side right now too. Which will, of course, add to the carnage.

Earlier in the week I nearly hit a coyote as s/he crossed in front of me during the drive home from work in the AM. And last night I had a fox and then a little further down the road a deer dart out in front of me.

Now... the coyote (in pretty good shape) I slowed down and waited for. I have no reason to hit them and s/he seemed grateful enough. Even turned to look at me as if to say "thanks for not killing me".

But deer are like... Shocked

They just dart outta nowhere. Appear suddenly in your headlights. It's like... dum-dee-dum-dee-dee-dum... you know... listenin' to tunes... driving down the road... no traffic to speak of... and then all of a sudden... Woah WTF!?

Damn things. I don't wanna hit one of them for the simple reason they cause a lot of damage. I've seen them go right through windshields.

Anywho.. that's my story for today.

Hope ya don't mind me sharin'....

Very Happy

Oh... and the robins are back. Went for coffee at five-o-clock this morning, like I do every morning, and when I went outside to the car this robin was singin' his/her little "I'm happy to be alive" song. Loud 'n' proud as could be.

cheers

yikes! Crying or Very sad

I like this line: "Everything is a lovely shade of dead"

I could see that in a track - no other vocals - and 1/2 through the track - this comes out in a whisper... "Everything is a lovely shade of dead" - then the music changes into a dark cloud of sound.

Very Happy Nah, don´t mind, nice story, you have story telling skills. Shame about the dead animals though.

Last summer we drove through Sweden, Norway & Denmark; dead animals everywhere, must have passed a 100 badgers lying on the motorway. Sad

On a "happy" note we have birds singing outside our window at 5 am in the morning, hehe...happy as hell to be alive is damned right! Laughing

badgers, we don't need no stinkin' badgers!

Ummm... what?

Gideon... Laughing

Apparently we have badgers (T. t. jacksoni) around here too, but I've never seen one, except in a zoo.

I don't know

And in pictures, of course...
