I finally got around to integrating a Flash slideshow object into the site - which means, you can sit back and watch a slideshow of the photos on ArtistServer now. I'm still working on the integration, but if you have any feedback or suggestions, fire away.
Supports: - thumbnails - put your mouse over the numbers at the bottom of the tool to see a thumbnail img, clicking loads it - links - each image in the slideshow is linked to it's photo page.
Here's where the slideshow option is currently integrated:
* Photo Sets - photos can be collected together into 'sets,' and once you create a set of your photos, the slideshow button will display with your set
* Photo Genres - if you hit the main photos page, you'll see the photo genres/categories on the right side, next to each is the slideshow button
========
Later on, I'll also add the means to view a search results as a slideshow - including Tags.
The tool supports the dynamic loading of new photo sets, so I'll also work on a means to load similar sets from the interface - the button is there, I just don't have the backend data part built.
========
Wanna see? Here are 2 slideshows:
Stereofect - http://www.artistserver.com/photos/index.cfm/slideshow/1/set/91
Kylo - http://www.artistserver.com/photos/index.cfm/slideshow/1/set/90
BTW Stereofect, consider yourself the motivation behind this getting done. After you uploaded the above photos, I found myself feeling very frustrated trying to view all your photos. After a few clicks... I said to myself... Damn - this is lame, where's the darn slideshow!!!!
Enjoy!

Wow, major kudos dude! I felt the same way about going from photo to photo; but never thought about that.
This certainly enriches the experience of checking it out. Does a slideshow count in your site stats though?? When I uploaded the yosemite album I got 2300 hits last month.
And "backend data" refers to the pop up text that appears when you're hovering your mouse over the photo right?

bueno!
>>And "backend data" refers to the pop up text that appears when you're hovering your mouse over the photo right?
I was referring to coding a means to query the database for related photo sets and generating the data/output so the photo slideshow object can display them as options from within the object. there's a small icon on the bottom left - if you click that, it will display a set of boxes - so imagine each box being a different slide show/photo set.
I'll have to see about displaying the title, I would think it's an option of the flash object i'm using - it's quite powerful and flexible.
I also want to display info below the slide show - for example, for the sets, I would display info about the member who owns the set - their name, icon, link, etc.
>>Does a slideshow count in your site stats though??
no, the site stats are only tracking your direct page hits - views on the slide show would be counting image views, which the site doesn't do at this point. We only track page views, mp3 streams, downloads, and ringtone downloads.
Glad you guys are enjoying it.

Nice addition!
It would be nice if there was a way to link to the actual photo from within the slide show, so that one could download it quickly without jumping through the hoops of looking for it. Also, it would be nice if the loading pie in the center weren't there IMHO.
This life is a joke, and nobody's laughing.

when a photo is displaying - you can click on it - then you'll be on the photo's page. In terms of downloading it, we offer different sizes, and depending on the initial upload, some sizes may not exist - so you get sent to the photo page to pick the size you want.
I'll check into the loading pie on my next work session on this.
thanks for the feedback.

I still need to do some more work on it - I want to get rid of the load pie as Neotone pointed out.
