I didn't want to mention this because I think it's a little on the personal side, but it'll clear some things up, so here it goes.
I hear a new track (finished/unfinished/old/new) by John just about every night. We IM that much. I realize much of what I hear is simply stuff he pounds out in a short time, thinking it's good, which I know is the wrong way for him to go at this point. I feel he needs to put more time and effort into these tracks and really make them shine. He always wants my opinion, yet doesn't like it if I give a negative review. But being his friend, I try to help in the most effective way I know how, by being brutally honest. Giving wishy washy reviews is the worst thing you can do to a hungry budding artist. Also, theres times I don't feel like giving an 'instant' review, and I tell him so, but if badgered about it of course I'll be short and not so sweet if I don't like the track.
Bottom line is I know John is a better producer than this track. Fact is, I'm currently working on a piece he started a week ago that I instantly fell in love with.

I kind of like the studder effect that people haven't been so into, the only time that it kind of bugs me is the high hat every so often skips and that one really throws me off. I like the drum break around 3:14. I love the use of the white noise with the filter sweep, makes things sound really BIG. Cool little tune.
