>>> Also saw Religulous
we watched this about a week ago - yes, it was quite good. The outtakes and interviews that didn't make the film were good to watch too.
meanwhile... we got sucked into... LOST
We've been powering though the episodes online at the ABC site. We're currently in season 3 where the 'others' have just left their village, and Jack has finally returned. I always thought the show would be cheesy, something I'd never want to watch, but damn... that's some good entertainment there. Most of the time with TV, I can see where things are going, and predict scenes, dialog, etc. With this show, it's much more difficult. They do toss out the occasional cliche here and there, but in general, I have no idea what is going on.
Unfortunately, the movie player at ABC kinda sucks. Hulu and Netflix have a much better streaming movie solution. ABC requires a much faster PC otherwise it simply won't work. Hulu and Netflix on the other hand, stream on every computer we have in the house - even a 1.x ghz Mac laptop.

Once you've gotten to mid-season 5 in LOST, this may make sense to you, especially if you remember the Who song it's based on:

The niftiest thing about this show -- and I think this counts as a teaser rather than a spoiler -- is that its content starts to follow its form. There are points where, if a character had seen this show, they might say they felt like they were in LOST.

I forgot about this thread, otherwise I woulda posted my Star Trek love here rather than where I did....

Anywho...
Went and saw Terminator Salvation on Saturday afternoon. Holy Shit is an apt description 'bout that one. Serially... it's a heart pounding, rollercoaster ride of a movie for sure. A two hour heavy metal drum solo if you prefer. It definitely needs to be seen in a theatre to be appreciated. It's gotta be the loudest, bass pumpingist flik eva. Awesome action, great throw you back in your seat type action and a great story. Me likey.. me likey lotty.....

Star Trek.
Great plot, full of inspiring effects and critical moments!
My favorite quote in the movie: "Are you out of your Vulcan mind!?"
"Energizer bunny arrested- charged with battery."

Just watched Gran Torino...
Man, oh man... Clint Eastwood does it again. A master craftsman, Clint manages to not only pull some seriously powerful performances from the entire cast but he will drag you, almost kicking and screaming at first, into this story in ways that will have you smiling at the same time as you wipe the tears from your eyes by the end of it. For a morality play I give this one top honours. An absolute joy to watch.

We watched "Sicko" this past weekend and neither Leanne nor myself could get through it without crying. We felt sooo badly for all those folks that are featured and have been so poorly treated by the US HMO's. We even cried at the end when we saw how happy the group were that go to Cuba.
It was amusing watching the Canadian portion of the doc as the folks featured in that portion and the sentiments and puzzlement (and fears) expressed by them is so *very* Canadian. Especially the guy in the Tim Horton's when he's told about the fellow who has to decide which finger to have fixed and the cost involved. The what... are you kidding me look on his face says it all.

I recently re-watched the whole run of American Gothic at hulu.com. Hadn't seen it since it aired in the early 90s. Hulu re-arranges the episodes in the order they were supposed to be shown, as well as a couple that didn't get on the air. And it makes a lot more sense.
In a nutshell, this is a horror series that takes place in the Southern town of Trinity. Imagine a twisted update of Andy of Mayberry. Sam Raimi was heavily involved, so of course Bruce Campbell guests in one episode and is eaten by bugs.

I'm slowly, in short bursts, making my way through Earthlings. It's definitely not an easy film to sit through in one take. A lot of the scenes make for some very difficult yet compelling viewing. I do feel it's an important film and think it has value. It is worth watching for sure.... if you can.
