Oh it's been a while hasn't it. I've been lurking but too busy to post... hey though! Lots of news for my ambient project, Off Land!

My new Off Land EP, Ends is out today on Part2 Records. It's free and contains 6 tracks of emotive ambient idm, sparse drones and far-off melodies:

DOWNLOAD

01) Time
02) Pause
03) Open
04) Hold
05) Paused
06) Zero

Enjoy and let me know what you think.

My first disc release, Heliopause is out tomorrow on Kikapu. It's one 20 minute track and it is limited to 50 copies. More info on that tomorrow...

Thanks for the free music Cool, right on.

I don't normally listen to ambient, but this is good stuff.

I dig the rhythm of 'time' a lot. The twinkly parts work really well with the uneasy atmosphere.

Pauses volume distorts a bit at times, but overall is a sweet track to kick back and daydream to.

Open has some fat synth sounds plus a smart mood. The more upbeat part kept me locked in.

Hold is less interesting than the rest, but still maintains high quality sound.

Paused is okay, just not as intense as the rest. I like the attempt, just not the overall feel.

Zero makes me think of the movie 'silent hill' for some reason. Might be the white noise and chilly piano.

You should be making movie soundtracks.

Yeah, I was pretty happy with Time. I was going for a sort of a Murcof feel to it. Pause has intentional distortion on the drums. I never quite made up my mind if that works for the best or not. I'm glad you like Open. It's the least ambient of the bunch and I'm hoping the most accessible. Hold I guess only works in context of an album. It's sort of an interlude. Paused is an odd one. It started as the most pounding track on there and by the time I finished it, it became just a long drone tracks. Go figure.

I'd love to. I've made soundtracks to my own movies in the past. Maybe I should make some movies for my music, but I'm too busy working on music... sigh Laughing

MORE INFO

Heliopause is one 20 minutes track of gorgeous drones, melodic minimal ambience and concealed rhythms. The Ends EP which came out yesterday contains two tracks (Pause and Paused) which are remixes of Heliopause.
Heliopause includes a highly collectible limited edition 3" cd housed in a letterpressed cardboard sleeve hand-printed by Matt Borghi. The cover art is hand drawn by Off Land. This release is limited to 50 copies.

Remarks from Kikapu: Off Land is one of our personal favorites around here, and we couldn't be happier than to have him closing out the Circle series of releases with this masterpiece of minimal ambience. All of Off Land's work consists of very emotive ambience and drone music, and 'Heliopause' is no different. Light drones swirl around slow, beautiful melodies to form a cohesive whole. Also present in this piece are minute, interesting rhythms and percussive tones. Overall, these few sparse elements come together to create quite a beautiful and moving piece of music.
