What's for dinner tonight?

I know, I know...it's right up there with "What cheese do you currently have in your fridge?" but I'm just currious, and hungry, so I thought I would ask.
Tonight we are having vegetable (bok choy, broccoli, bell peppers and mushrooms) stir fry with jasmine rice and egg rolls. I might throw a quick salad together, too. I have some ripe avocados that are just calling to me, and I don't think they can be ignored much longer.
Some good red wine, some great music, and then I can probably lure Gideon out of the studio.
So...how about the rest of you? What's for dinner tonight?

Alright, I get it...I'm not dealing with a bunch of epicurian musicians.
Maybe next time I will ask what cheese you have hiding in your fridge, because everybody has cheese!
Our dinner was quite tasty and healthy, too, which is always a bonus. Wish we could have shared it with you guys. Too bad we don't all live closer....

Don't ask me, I just see it on the cover of my cookbooks.
But tell me, what did your wife surprise with for dinner last night? Does it beat a bologna sandwich?

I'm not sure it beats a bologna sandwich, but it tasted real good:
Penne, Italian tomato sauce (spicy), rucola and...inktvis.
Now you probably don't know what that is, I'll have to find the translation somewhere,,,,

Yes, please, the suspense is killing me! Is it animal, vegetable or mineral?

You perked my curiosity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arugula Eruca sativa Vernacular names include Garden Rocket,[3] Rocket,[2] Eruca,[2] Rocketsalad,[6] Arugula (American English), Rucola (Italian),[7][8] Rugola (Italian), Roquette (French), Rokka (Greek), Ruchetta (Italian)[8] and Rughetta (Italian). The term arugula (variations of Italian dialects around arigola) is used by the Italian diaspora in Australia and North America and from there picked up as a loan word to a varying degree in American and Australian English, particularly in culinary usage. The names ultimately all derive from the Latin word eruca, a name for an unspecified plant in the family Brassicaceae, probably a type of cabbage.[7] It is used as a leaf vegetable, which looks like a longer leaved and open lettuce
Inktvissen is Octopus as far as I can tell

Brainbelly is right (see above), it's octopus....
At first I thought an octopus was only specific kind of inktvis, but apparently it's just 'inktvis'

So....a 'plant' and an 'animal'. I love arugala...it's flavor is so strong! But I have not eaten octopus in many, many years. Back when I did eat meat I really liked squid, or calamari, but I found octopus to be a bit chewy. My father was a diver for Scripp's Aquarium and used to spend a lot of free time diving 'for dinner' at low tide. I wish I had appreciated the fresh abalone more back then. Now, even if I had a desire to eat it, I wouldn't be able to afford it!
Sounds like your wife surprised you with an awesome dinner!

I finished off the chicken wings (smothered in Frank's Red Hot) from last night when I got home from work this morning.

It never fails to make me laugh...I cook Gideon so many gourmet meals, and I know he appreciates the work and enjoys the food...but all I have to do is look at him and say "Honey, I'm a little tired tonight and I don't feel like cooking. Would you be upset if we just opened a few beers and ordered a pizza?" His face lights up like a kid getting his first puppy on Christmas. Is it a guy thing? Naw. Pizza rocks!!!!

You know, there's something fun about pizza. It was always a good time when you were growing up- wherever it was. If it was coming in your direction, it was always like "Woohooooo!!!" And it still is.
There's gotta be some humungous release of dopamine/ seratonin rush when you know you're about to get pizza...
What a strange, yet welcome food.
For me, I've been chowing down on Dim Sum! It's an Asian fast food chain; mainly chinese food wrapped in "rice balls" if you will. I love it so much and it costs a little bit less than pizza--
But I still prefer pizza over it!

If the fast-food places in this town depended on us they'd be out of business pretty soon. We ordered pizza Feb 17th. Something we hadn't done for such a long time none of us could remember the last time we'd ordered. It's definitely been more than year. Ordering in is a rare treat in this household. But damn that pizza was good!!

Was thinking about having refried beans plooped onto some heated up miniature corn tortillas.
But I just had Chipotle for lunch.
So maybe I'll go with eye gunk or something.
