Hello! I am very happy to announce the forthcoming Second Thought album, 60° South, coming out on AmbientLive records this May.
Partially inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's novel 'At The Mountains Of Madness', 60° South is Second Thought's fourth album (the 'third' and 'official follow-up' to Vacuum Road Songs is out later this year. erm), and takes a new synthesizer-driven approach to production, compared to the sample collages of previous releases. This electronic tapestry paints an image of life in the cold antarctic circle. Some tracks reflect the Lovecraft tale's sense of unease and mystery, while others drift along more pleasantly, reflecting the grand majesty of the antarctic landscape and the sea that surrounds it.

I've had a very productive year, but having been unemployed for eleven months has helped - the only way to keep myself occupied a lot of the time!
Have you begun any music this year, or have you not had chance at all? I hate going through those sort of phases - I'm sure you'll get around to it at some point though!

I have 1 tune that is nearly done, but I don't think I'll be releasing it online. It is a gift for Lou, for her next birthday, and it is based on samples I lifted from a tutorial video on 'how to play funk' with Bootsy Collins -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHE6hZU72A4
another reason for the lack of music - I'm playing Mass Effect 2 these days, so once that is done, I'll put my gaming time back into music (damn good game though - great storyline)

Ah, now that's nice. I wrote a piece for my girlfriend's last birthday. But I shall be releasing it (in three albums time, heh). Once I've written something I'm proud of I always want to share it, I don't like having unreleased material. Maybe it's an ego thing, haha.
I never got into gaming, I'm sure if I did I'd have less time for composition - looking forward to your return to production though!
And cheers - hopefully something'll turn up. It's been long enough!
