....and I have to say I'm impressed. Only downside I can see is that you can't set a track order. Brilliant video displayer thing.
The whole thing was really quick and easy and is completely free (I don't know how they do it!)
Anyway - just thought I would give a heads up....
I've put my new track Mr Starry Learns to Fly up there which also has my first crack at a video (eek!)
Heres the link if you want to have a look-see....

Hope alls well.

How do you find it and use it? I logged into Facebook and couldn't find any immediately available music upload options.
This life is a joke, and nobody's laughing.

Interesting that you are calling Facebook the 'latest OMD' - they're such a larger network now, that I guess you could call them anything that exists on the Web. Facebook is a replication of the Web itself in a nice clean blue and white package.
While you can add various music widgets to your profile page, I don't think I'd call the site an Online Music Distributer. The only deep support for music would be provided by outside/3rd party companies and developers. There aren't any genres, charts, artist listings or search, nor any way to browse the music except by profile.
Facebook is indeed is rocking the Web and has massive numbers, so why not promote there! But it's a very closed environment by default, most of the site can't be experienced unless you join and sign in.
Let us know how your stats go over there. Do they give you stats on the plays?

Still haven't figured out a way to simply view a person's profile w/o already being "friends". Specifically, I did a search on my high school graduating class, and, though I could see a list of about 20 - 30 people, I couldn't check out any of their profiles.
Kind of blew my mind to see all those names & faces again.

Can you friend people as musicians on Facebook? I guess I can go check for myself.
While its cool that Myspace now has competition from some different personal networking services (with better interfaces) I'm kinda bummed that facebook isn't as focused as it once was, I kind of liked how it was networking within specific institutions. I guess I knew that wouldn't last forever. I personally think that VIRB.com is a much better form of the myspace format. Havn't posted music there yet, i guess it couldn't hurt. -Erik

hi all,
Erik - yes, you can become someones fan which is quite a cool app because it allows me to send updates to my fans (of which I currently have 2!)
Gideon, yes it does have stats for page views and music plays.
So far I guess about 5 people a day on average are viewing and listening. I find the whole "no charts" thing quite refreshing tbh. I see what you mean about the closed aspects of it but as I can tie in an advertising campaign that targets people who like, in my case, dirty beats, it offers exciting opportunities to reach people google ads for example miss. I'm starting such a campaign this week as I have just released all my old albums on iTunes via cd baby. The third party aspects of facebook rather suit me like that.
I'll report back!

interesting article about facebook - libertarian neo cons setting out to destroy nature under the guise of a social networking site. sound wacked? read on; http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2008/jan/14/facebook/print you can quibble about the the realities of socializing on the net, but the real philosophies behind the site are bizarre and scary.
