I seem to be getting spam emails from people through my blog postings, also when i set up my tip jar a month or two ago, someone was able to hack my yahoo account, ive since took the tip jar down. I dont know if anything can be done but its quite frightening that it is happening ..........

>>>I seem to be getting spam emails from people through my blog postings,
Hi,
I have CAPTCHA set up to keep spammers out - if they are sitting there filling out the CAPTCHA form, there is nothing I can do to prevent it. But you can take care of it by turning off comments for your blog - it is a setting - here is a quick link to the place where you set this: http://myaccount.artistserver.com/myaccount/index.cfm?adminarea=15
>>> also when i set up my tip jar a month or two ago, someone was able to hack my yahoo account, ive since took the tip jar down.
This is an incorrect assumption. What you explained is not the cause of your email being hacked. The tip jar doesn't include your passwords, and we don't collect your passwords from anywhere. Look at the source of the page, you'll see there is only the email address. ArtistServer has nothing to do with your email account being hacked. Talk w/ other IT professionals, they'll tell you the same thing.
>>>I dont know if anything can be done but its quite frightening that it is happening
Yes, you can protect your passwords: not keep any in text files on your PC, not keep any in your email, avoid using the same passwords everywhere, make them long and complex. In regards to the blog, if you look out on the Web, you'll see spam management on blog comments is a problem everywhere. You can either monitor your blog and manage it, or turn off comments. There is nothing frightening happening here - you posted about 2 issues, one is valid and occurs everywhere, the other you are blaming something that isn't possible - you just can't hack an email account with only a yahoo email address.
Hope all is well otherwise,
Gideon
