Prent Rodgers

Ok, so I'm totally on the 'crazy scales rush' and I've stumbled into this guy called Prent Rodgers who releases his music for free download. He uses Csound to make accoustic instrument samples sound in physically improbable/impracticle tunings.

If you're interested you can either google his name or go here: http://tonalsoft.com/downloads/free-music.aspx

Right now I'm listening to 'Resolution in Blue' which uses some crazy 'diamond shaped' tuning system of ratios. It's so damn clever because it actually sounds good. A little f'ed up, like a 'free high' kinda thing, but there's some great musicality going on in this unusual space.

This is definately music to freak people out with Smokin'! Ummm... what? Shocked

You have to have ultimate respect for anyone that can make music with code, like with Csound.
I bought the Csound book in 2000, complete with the CD's, and with my background in modular synthesis, still had problems getting it to sound good.
very interesting work indeed though Smile

thanks for sharing!

My thoughts exactly! It certainly puts things in perspective!

This method of making music definitely intrigues me...

To bad I'm way to busy to ever start working like that myself.

Nice find.

I know what you mean Smile

I still need to go back and re-render all my Lucy tunes in normal tuning so that I can compare them and get a handle on the differences.

I took a listen to the piece you mentioned and I felt like Mr Jones in the Dylan tune. "you something happening, but you don't know what it is , do you , Mr. Jones."
not an Obliminal thought in his head
