Received a letter from the Dutch Railway today and am not totally sure i have interpreted the contents correctly as my skills in the dutch langauge are pretty much non-existant, rather than phone them i was wondering if any of you Dutch people, i.e. Multi-panel or ABC, might be willing to do a quick translation?
(has not been returned?)
Ik vind het jammer dat ik u deze keer niet kan helpen. (i regret to inform that we can´t help you in this matter?)
Yeah, lost all my important documents in Amsterdam C. about a month ago, i was lucky to be able to get home! But i received excellent help from a dutch policeman at the Schipol airport police station so as to not miss my flight but i can tell you it´s a scary thing to travel without any form of identification!!
I´ve learned a from a bad mistake, don´t keep everything in one place. Funny thing is i have no memory of where i lost it or misplaced it but have more or less guessed as to where i had it last.
I was hoping this letter would have some positive news? But i don´t think it has?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Brillman, you're translation is correct, so don't expect your belongings being returned to you...

Thanks ABC, yeah i was a bit surprised actually, hehe...
I suppose the moral of this tale is we can either learn from other people´s mistakes or our own?

Bummer is right!! Rather an understatement i would say as it was a real shock upon realizing that my passport, id, all manner of papers, VISA card, bus cards, wallet, etc (no money in it luckily but i would rather have lost money than my passport!) and other personal stuff had just gone. So major bummer and i am still nowhere nearer to getting a new passport, it seems it will take me a couple of months at least, because no form of identification left!?
Anyway don´t wanna bore y'all, you deal with whatever hits you and life goes on...

Having spent all those years working in 'Government Identificaiton Hell' (aka: DMV) I heard a lot of sad stories about lost passports, drivers licenses and identification cards. In cases like yours you do hope for a 'good Samaritan' to come forward, and maybe one still will. It happens... ...sometimes. Regardless, it will work out. Really. It might take a couple of months, some money, some headaches, but it will work out.

Thanks Lou & Ludo for your kind concern
I am no nearer to sorting this out as a matter of fact as i am still waiting for a birth certificate that i applied for over 3 weeks ago and when that comes i can then apply for a new passport, which will probably take another 2-3 months!

I'm guessing you were either really wasted and lost all your belongings or got robbed somewhere in good ol' Amsterdam?
Better luck next time.

Well, actually no because it was around 8 in the morning!
Mostly stressed and running around in the station trying to get a ticket machine to work so we could get the train that left for the airport within minutes, my girlfriend noticed that i didn´t have my bag with me when got off the train at the Schipol airport. Either put it down somewhere or it was stolen? I was apparently too stressed to notice.
It´s no world catatastrophe, i´ll work it out but at the time it was a real shock.
