I'm posting this for Joe since he hasn't been able to get his membership password set up. Always good to see new opportunities to get the music out there;
I am a volunteer at a Canadian nonprofit, community radio station in St. Catharines, Ontario (Canada) called CFBU – 103.7 FM. You can check out the CFBU website at cfbu.ca and read more about the station.
I am putting together a 1 hour radio program featuring experimental and minimalist music from independent artists. The program will air twice weekly, usually at a late hour (11:00pm or midnight). I have already been in contact with several experimental and minimalists artists who have given me permission to air their material.
If you are an independent experimental music artist or minimalist composer, and are willing to give me permission to air your music please email me, stating clearly that you give me authority to air your material. Please note that I may not be able to play your material if it does not fit the format of the show, I will let you know.
You can point me to your webpage or send me a CD, either way if you are interested email me at halder@look.ca.
I am currently putting together a play list for April 17, 2009 and have material for the first several shows, but I will need more for future shows in June 2009 and onward.
Thanks
Joe

Ah, yes... Good ol' fashioned Varsity radio. Brock University is less than a coupla hours from me. The Niagara region is beautiful in the summer. Just a few minutes drive away from Niagara Falls.

"Surgite! Push on!" as Maj.-General Sir Isaac Brock said...

Fortunately, ArtistServer provides artists with the option of selecting a Creative Commons license, which establishes the terms of the license in a language anyone can understand. Whereas a copyright is a big question mark - you have to contact the person to ask what their terms are.
Here are the license options:
Attribution No Derivatives = ok for radio play, but give credit, and don't alter
Attribution = ok for radio play, but give credit
Attribution Share Alike = ok for radio play, but give credit. if you alter, you must share it
Attribution Non-Commercial No Derivatives = ok for radio play, don't alter, can't use in commercial applications/environment
Attribution Non-Commercial = ok for radio play, can't use in commercial applications/environment
Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike = ok for radio play, if you alter, you must share it, can't use in commercial applications/environment
Public Domain = ok for radio play
And then there is copyright, which does not state how a song can be used or what the limitations of that use are:
Copyright - All Rights Reserved = must contact artist before doing anything
====================
ArtistServer provides a means to search for songs based on their license:
On the main Music page (click on Music from the main menu) - scroll down a bit, and the license options are listed in the middle of the page.
Same is true on the genre pages - visit a genre, scroll down a bit - and there are the license options.
====================
For my music, your friend Joe can play anything he likes

I may have sent a CD to CFBU in 2001. I know I sent one to CIUT, and they listed it as their #1 album for a week in Feb 2002. (My theory is whoever made their charts for that week just looked at the stack of slushpile CDs, and mine was on top.)
Anyway, here are the largest of my compendiums:

On that one, scroll down the music pages to near the bottom for Jack n Cats, if you need to see the depth of my artistic depravity ...
