Glad you're well Lou.

stereofect - I could have used your help, I just tried to put a new faucet in the kitchen, and snapped an old pipe in the wall. No good! Now we're waiting for a 'real' plumber to arrive and let us know what can be done. Hopefully the wall won't need to be broken up.

Oh, man... that sucks! Wish I lived closer and I would'a been there to help for sure.
Hope it doesn't cost ya too much to fix it. Hopefully it's not as bad as you think.

My wife and me found out it's easier to do home improvement repairs and upgrades ourselves than we originally thought. With google we can handle just about anything.

Thank goodness for wonderful plumbers named 'Manny'. This guy rocked! He came out on a Saturday afternoon and saved us when we could hardly get anyone else to even return a call. Yes...we could have used your help for sure!
He DID have to break up about five tiles above the sink, but we can deal with that. He rewelded the pipe and installed the new faucet, so we're back in business again.
And just for good measure, the pups gave Manny hell the entire time he was here!

and the plumber said the weld was just weak - it would have broken no matter what so I felt a little better
I did a quick fix job on the tile... cut out a folder (since it nearly matches the tile) and taped it in place... good as new
ok... so I'm a better programmer than handyman

Beat it to fit, paint it to match.

I grew up with "Measure twice, cut once" but this one [quote]Beat it to fit, paint it to match [quote] was new to me.
One of my most prized possessions is my hammer. My Dad gave it to me when I was around seven or eight years old. He burned my initials into the handle and added a personalized grip. It's hard core. When I was a teenager I did my own modifications by painting the head lime-green.

Hehe... if you saw (pun intended) me in action you'd prolly think twice about hiring me. I tend to measure twice, cut once, then go d'oh!... measure again, cut again.. d'oh!... measure again, go to the lumber store, buy more lumber, cut again, scratch head, get neighbour to check it, cut again, now it fits.
