Hello all I have a new track (finally) after settling into my apartment in Portland. This is the first track where I've tried using the soft synths that come with Logic (since I fried my MS2000). I'm kinda happy with them, I suppose, but I plan to rerecord the synth parts with a friends gear, so I guess this is just kind of a demo. http://doubleplusgood.biz/music/Rivers%20May%20Rise%20Real.mp3 Anyways, I wanted to post what I've been working on. This has a definite 80s sensibility. Anyways, comments are welcome. How is everyone? I've been lurking a bit as of late and noticed I hadn't seen regulars like Ludo. Erik

Welcome back!
Do you use Logic Pro? In that case the sofsynths that come with the package are possibly all you'll ever need......

I was to embarrased to mention how I fried it, but I fried it by plugging an AC adaptor into it, which was meant for a preamp of mine. I had just confused the wires, and then I smelled burning. Lame...I hate that story, I'm a moron

Nice piece Erik. I like it, it has a good spirit about it.

hellscion got it, I figured it might be a joke, and i have a tendency to be pretty overly happy. Too much caffine and sunshine or something...yeah, i'm a dork. Thanks for checking it.
A Bit Crusher - No, I'm using Logic Pro. I'm just all around not totally crazy about using 100% soft synths, I feel like something needs to be external. On this track I actually used a EA-1 Electribe to double the bass line, because the synths on logic didn't carry enough weight. And the ES-1 made the beat. Yup yup, long answer to a simple question.

Great audio quality, it pops, crisp and clear.
I agree it's extremely upbeat, but there's a big market for that.
I even like the vocals, very catchy, although they could be louder at times.
Am I hearing a lot of hardware or is this all software?
Good job friend.

Don't feel bad about the MS2000 mistake.
I once fried a day old $2500 Kurzweil by plugging a guitar amp into the sampler

Subtronik - Most of it is software, although the bassline was doubled with a Korg EA-1 and the beat was on one of those "analog modelling" drum machines by Korg. The opening chords that you hear throughout the song were done on the MS2000 before it fried. Hehe. So its a nice mix. Thanks for listening!

this is yet another advantage you have with software over hardware. then again with hardware you dont lose an hour of work because of your pc freezing. hmm

Hard luck about the fry-up. See it as losing your internet virginity.
At least you didn't break your Dad's Ivor Novello. (whoops!) I like this track though I'm not too sure about the vocal - it either needs to sound more assured in itself or cut altogether.
Welcome to Logic.
