live headphone click track device?
Created on: 06/07/08 12:03 PM Replies: 1

Hello everyone
I had a question. My drummer and I have been struggling with our live act lately. We play lots of house venue type places, and venues with terrible PA systems. None of my gear sends out a tick track through the headphone jacks, and I was wondering if there wasn't some kind of device that would allow me to sync my sampler to a metranome, and send a Mix with a tick track out to his headphones.
Any suggestions would be HUGE!

Too bad you both have to wear headphones. I realise it isolates the sound nicely, but it really is nice when you don't have to use 'em. Get yourself some stage monitors (nice loud ones) so you can give the drummer a mix both of you can hear without headphones.

I know.. not very helpful, right?

In the meantime...

You use a sampler, right? Can't you just make a "click" sample (CHH or some such thing) play during any and/or all of your tracks? I'd make it something I could trigger with a simple "on/off" type action... you know... via a pad or transport button or synth key?

It's what I would do.

And get some monitors!!

Twisted Evil

cheers
