I've just finished listening to all of Wintermute's trance here on ArtistServer, and have come up with the following countdown of what I consider to be his best works:
I chose them according to the power expressed in the melody acting congenially with the harmonies. I did not include any of the Black Ice remixes, even though it's his most remixed song, because I didn't feel the main melody was impressive enough. Please enjoy and debate my selection if you wish.
hmm it's cool that you evaluated wintermute's music in such a manner. i hadnt heard some of those songs near the top before..

I think this is a great list--thank you for taking the time. You have some really strong choices especially when considering your critera--which is also great. You are very correct about "Black Ice" which also has been, and pretty much will be, a piece about bass and bass "mood". Some songs are more about an idea or a mood and so you are very right in excluding the ones that are of that nature. "Hope" by far is one of the most "standard" songs in the group and deserves to be where you put it Well more music is coming as I work out the "rough" edges off of a lot that didn't make the list, not that there are really any others I would add here.

This is a great song, though it doesn't exactly have a powerful melody... I think it deserves a place between Lost in Time and Somebody Set Us Up The Bomb. So, it's number 13.5.
