Hi everyone, Just popping by to see how we all are. It's been so long since I was around these parts, or even online doing anything Second Thought related. Life's been busy and crazy for the last couple of years and I've barely had any time online (that which I have had has been spent updating the stupid amount of new stuff for my FSOL fansite). Here's a quick update in the world of Second Thought. I've been sitting on Vacuum Road Songs for a while but once I get my next pay packet the promo campaign is going to start up proper and it'll be hitting the magazines and radio stations by the end of the year. I'm hoping for an international release in October. Fingers crossed! I'm about 2/3 of the way through my next album, which will be called Dead Hymns, and will be very, very different to what I've produced before - industrial, dark ambient, lots of distorted guitars, beats, noise, possibly some live instrumentation. I'm really excited with where it's going, I think it's my most professionally produced thing yet, with none of the slightly flat sound I've occasionally suffered from in the past. Otherwise, I'm starting up a post-hardcore band with a couple of friends. I'm a manager at Sainsbury's which is soul crushing but I'm looking for more work.
Are any of the old crew round here? Names I remember from the old ElectronicScene days: Stereofect, Fabrik Nos, Multi-Panel, Themis, Doofgoblin, Mercurial, Send, Hyperdriver, 4m33s, Fourier, Wintermute, Ochre, DoublePlusGood, Nimrod Tsabari, Subtronik, Danny K, Jeff Harrington, J Fox, Sonic Wallpaper, Stefan Koopmanschap. SAY HELLO!
Hope you're all well anyway.

Hello from who used to be Send
I'm pleased to hear your production is getting better. I feel the same way. And being in a band is really good for creativity, isn't it?
We've done a radio interview and lots of gigs in the band so I'm pretty confident about promoting music now, hopefully I can transfer these skills to help boost my solo music!
I will teach you the significance of insignificance

I was a listener back in 2002 and became an artist real soon after. The site has really grown ever since.

Good to see you again Ross
There's still a few ES'ers around but most have moved on to whatever people like us do for entertainment. I think some get sucked into gaming and will probably never return.
Glad to hear you're still doing music. Since you're dabbling in industrial now let's collaborate sometime. Don't be such a stranger friend.
p.s. I've always loved your F.S.O.L. collection

Hello, hello. I remember Bit Crusher and Kylo too - hope you're good!
Send, excellent to see you're still around. I always thought your stuff sounded great anyway, although I suppose it's easier to be self critical and view others' stuff in a better light! Yes, being in a band is fantastic fun, in a completely different way to working on my own with a computer. More liberating, I think.
Subtronik - hullo again. Would be great to do a collaboration, yes. Need to give my computer a big reformat before it'll allow me to do anything more than opening Firefox but I'll send you a message and we can sort something out.

Hey man, good to see you back!
I'm still around. I've been going through a long period of no music myself, but squeezed out a couple songs here and there. Everyday life distracts a lot.

HI - long time no hey Yes - the ship is still here and various quality passengers are still along for the ride. Glad to hear you are still working on music.
>>I've been sitting on Vacuum Road Songs for a while but once I get my next pay packet the promo campaign is going to start up proper and it'll be hitting the magazines and radio stations by the end of the year.
Let us know how the offline promotion goes and best of luck with the release.

Glad to hear you are surpassing your previous work. Getting all the production skills down is an art of it's own.
Stereofect - present and posting and producing music Fabrik Nos - i received an email from him about 1+ yr ago not sure what he's up to Multi-Panel - rarely comes by - I think he had a partially finished album he was sitting on Themis - still on the site but doesn't hit the forums. Recently a video of him performing live was posted Doofgoblin - while still producing music, bought a home and did some serious work on it which he posted about in a blog Mercurial - not sure what he's up to Send - stopped by recently and shared that he's in a band now Hyperdriver - i think his music is still here, but he hasn't been here in years 4m33s - not sure what he's up to Fourier - stops by from time to time, I believe he's still working on tunes - nothing released Wintermute - has maxed out his account on the site and is still producing more Ochre - came by to ask for a copy of his own CD a few months back, still creating tracks DoublePlusGood - stops by occasionally, still producing and promoting his project Nimrod Tsabari - no idea Subtronik - as you can see in this thread, he's alive and kicking - and still producing tunes Danny K - posted new tunes recently, but you have to join some site to get to them Jeff Harrington - is a happy man - just moved to a very peaceful place, still making music J Fox - no idea Sonic Wallpaper - still attempting to juggle multiple web/music/media projects at once, yet not really releasing anything. I've been composing a nice piece of music on guitar lately. Stefan Koopmanschap - not sure, and I miss him.

>>>Rubix = Roscoe Wilks

Did Rubix tell you that?
At my wedding reception, way late at night, we were standing around the keg, and John started talking in 3rd person - it was hilarious. I think he was determined to not let the night end with beer in the keg.

That's quite the list. Some of those names I haven't seen for a long time.

I often wonder what happen'd to Justus (Process).
And I often wear my Cap'n Ahab Tee. Monitors on pikes... ala Vlad The Impaler.....

hey Ross
Gideon, that list made me happy and sad. but mostly happy and nostalgic!
Sub, that's a nice reference!
I'm still around but I fly the internet at a stupid fast pace these days, mostly due to work...the internet as a work-related research tool has screwed up my ability to sit in one place it seems. so my attttention span takes another hit.
musically, I took an break from the studio approach for about a year and only produced instruments for live shows, and played 'em out around town. as G mentioned, I took on another creative project, the all-consuming total renovation/save-a-falling-house-in-the-country. though, over the past couple of months, I've actually had some time and drive to get back down to working on music while sitting down, and I'll pick back up with a bunch of shows this fall.
all in all, things are good and I'm glad to hear they are for you too!
excuse me, I'm off to tag Sendy's thread!

Hey Ross. It has been a long time, but great to hear what you're up to. Vacuum Road Songs, huh? It's like we all went into limbo 3 years ago or something. A few months ago, Ludo / multi-panel finally released a bunch of stuff that he recorded in 2005 or so (it's really good, too), and I never finished the supposed demo I was working basically since college.
Basically, what happened is I became a photographer and then got sucked into a bunch of music journalism projects, stopped having any free time for hobbies that didn't feed into one of the two of those (or both -- I've been covering live music basically all the time). And now I had to get a new computer, and got stuck with Vista, and have no music software that won't crash it. Urgh.
Someday, when I'm getting paid photography and writing work more regularly, maybe I'll have time to work on my own music again.

Yeah, I went looking for the Opponent Process a short while back. As part of that effort, I got his Firesign Theatre mash-up played on the Hour of Slack radio show a few weeks ago.
