Chocolate Rain - Sonic Remix / Sonic Wallpaper

Download Stream
This is a remix of a song called "Chocolate Rain" originally by Tay Zonday. He posted a video of himself singing his song on YouTube [view it here] plus an mp3 of the song, and a link to a WAV file of the vocal track. He has quite a distinct voice
It's a funk track, similar to "Scratchin' the Funk," that I put out earlier this year, but with vocals and no horns.
Enjoy

Not bad, the music fits. I personally don't like the guys voice but I'm still considering a remix if I can alter his voice enough to suit my style.

I really enjoyed this one! I liked hearing you work on it and I am still humming it while I'm at work. Chocolate Rain, baby...it's everywhere.

I love the beat on this one! It fits the voice nicely, if that makes sense. His voice is quite unique, kinda funny. It's like if Ian Curtis was singing George Clinton.
The one thing I would have liked was for more delay or something on his voice, especially some dubby effect on some of the times he says "chocolate rain". This could have made a good dub track come to think of it. Anyways, I really like your production on this. Nice one Gideon!

>>>That video is everywhere for some reason...
Thanks for the listen
yeah - Tay has been enjoying his 15minutes of fame - although it's now spilling over to a few weeks He's apparently organizing a tour - there's a remix contest at AcidPlanet - and I'm sure there's even more happening for him. All from a video ;)
>>> Not bad, the music fits. I personally don't like the guys voice but I'm still considering a remix if I can alter his voice enough to suit my style.
yes - do a mix! Thanks for the listen His voice is a bit too much after awhile though - it sure gets stuck in your head.
>>>I really enjoyed this one! I liked hearing you work on it and I am still humming it while I'm at work.
Thanks honey - glad this one came together so fast. I'm always amazed that you can deal w/ the track making process... hearing the same sections of music over and over for hours.
>>>I love the beat on this one! It fits the voice nicely, if that makes sense. His voice is quite unique, kinda funny. It's like if Ian Curtis was singing George Clinton.
Yeah - we need to get George Clinton to produce for Tay - then we'd hear some good soulful funk! I was lucky on that beat - it did need cutting up in places, but overall, the drops of the kick were nearly perfect for the flow of the tune. I started w/ a different beat and after laying down the bassline, I found the beat boring - fortunately, this beat was sitting there waiting for me.

Thank you for the compliments
As for the vocal track, I only added some reverb - but yes, some delay would have worked well - esp. at the end of the phrases. That's something I actually do fairly often - to help transitions flow better - not sure why it didn't happen on this track.
Thanks again for the listens everyone - cheers

Yep, sounds good!
Although I have the feeling that the guitar(sound) in the beginning is not in tune with the vocals...

I like his song about the internet the best.
This is an ok remix though it isn't making me go quite as nuts as I would have hoped.
