A glitchy, noisy, gritty analog synth jam....
Interdimensional Sonic Decimator
stream (10:50)
download (10.4MB)
Made with this setup:

Rig consists of a circuit bent Speak & Read, Atari Punk Console, Gakken SX-150, MFOS Wierd Sound Generator, a D-Lab Multi Plexer and some Zoom FX pedals.

I see an einsturzende neubauten man in that picture, cool
Ok, about the track.
Pretty weird stuff. It did leave me wanting for something to happen for long stretches.
Some of the speak & read parts remind me of HAL from 2010 when he was being brought back online.
I didn't care much for the constant buzzing, but I liked everything else.

did you bend it or pick up a bent one? I recently started looking into Circuit Bending - bought a book, some parts to start with and already have 4 toys to work from
>>> Atari Punk Console
I had to look this one up - never heard of this - is it the silver box w/ the red button above the speak & read?
I'll grab the tune to listen while working tomorrow.

Not sure what ya mean by "constant buzzing", but I hear ya on the HAL reference. In "glitch mode" the S&R does come up with some interesting combos of words and phrases. A little skattered at times, but always interesting.

Tanx for da listen...

No, I bought this one. I tried bending one of my own and fudged it terribly. Had this one done by someone who knew what they were doing.

I have Reed Ghazala's book. It's prob'ly the best guide out there on the subject.

Yup... that's it. Easy as pie to make. Lots of good tutorials on this one on the intertubes.

Hope you don't find the track too wierd.

If any of you are interested, here's Part Deux. It was recorded during the same thirty minute session as the first. Couple minutes or so between 'em. More dronish and toned down at this point. Taken me a while, as many of you know, but I think I've pretty much got this setup figured out. And I really like it. Individually these machines are wicked cool sample providers. And in tandem they create this terrific cacophony of chaos that I just can't seem to get enough of. It's my version of a modular synth.

>> Subtronik: After some investigation I think I know what you are referring to when you say "buzzing". It has to be the APC. Since it's esentially a pulse wave generator it has the ability to oscilate at a very high rate of speed... and I had it cranked during a large portion of the track in question... hence the buzzing effect. When I pitch it down the effect is less noticable.

A lot of those polysynth drones are powerful. The speak&spell scares me this time.
I fell asleep to this and woke back up to it with my feet halfway off the bed.
