Yesterday was quite the day. I had a front row seat for this:
http://www.achannel.ca/london/news_52113.aspx
My next door neighbour, Doug Mercer, is featured. Go Doug!!
The tanker was sitting about 300yrds from my front door.
Leanne was at work, the kids were at school. Just me and the kitties were home. Since the prevailing winds were blowing NW to SE (not effecting me) I was allowed to stay home. I did pack bags for everyone in the house (and had a hockey bag ready to stuff the kitties in) and was ready to go just in case.
But... all is fine now.
I didn't go to work last night 'cause I needed (read: wanted) to stay home with my family. Plus I couldn't sleep anyways. I've had like four hours sleep in the last 33 hours. I get pretty worked up about this kinda stuff, I know, but I can't help it.
Anywho....

Holy shit! That's only right across the highway from you guys right?
Glad to know it didn't turn out to be a freak accident if you know what I'm saying.

Hey... thanks guys!!

My son told me that at high-school on Tuesday it was theee topic of conversation. Everyone was talkin' about it. And having it happen so close to his house definitely gave him an advantage.
Hell, man... I'll be talkin' about this for years.

Anywho....
I made a track in honour of the day. I wonder if I should upload it?

Hmmm... maybe not. It might be too angry for this two-bit joint...

Wow!
I'm so glad you and your family and kitties are all OK. Whew! Such an exciting way to start the new year.
It does look like you live in a lovely neighborhood, though. Not to mention the snazzy uniforms your cops have, too!
Take care and stay positive.

Thanks Lou!!!
An exciting start to the year indeed....
If you're ever in Stratford I'll hafta get Leanne to introduce you to some of the cops. Afterall she knows several of them. She was classmates with a lot them in high-school.

Yes... Stratford is a small town. It may have 30,000 people living here but the small-town appeal has a lot of folks growing up here and staying here to work and raise families. Multi-generations live here. When an ambulance or fire truck or squad car fires up its siren people sit up and take notice round here. Afterall, there's a good chance it'll concern someone you know.
We have friends stay/visit from out-of-town and often they are taken back by how friendly we folks are. Lots of peeps are not used to having complete strangers say hello to 'em out of the blue....
Anywho....
Thanks for caring... all of you!!
Means a lot to us.

Something funny about this, is when I was still living in Oregon I basically grew up waving to everyone on the dirt road. It took me a little while to adjust my algorythm when I got off the creekline because it occured to me, "Hey... I don't think I know these folks so I better'd lay off the creepy waving."
I still nod to people I walk by, I can't help that one. I still get wtf looks. lol My rule is if they make eye-contact, they're nod worthy.
