I saw a film today, oh boy....

I actually went to the theatre and saw a movie yesterday. The latest Star Trek to be exact. I hadn't been to a movie since 2003 when I saw Hulk (which is ironic considering that Eric Bana was in that movie as well). But I specifically wanted to see this one in the theatre. And I was NOT disappointed. F'n excellent movie. I am a HUGE Star Trek fan (orginal series/cast only) and this one was much anticipated on my part. Awesome character development, great acting, a terrific story, superb special FX and the cast all got their parts spot on. Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty, Uhura, Chekov, Sulu... are all played to perfection. J.J. Abrams did a fantastic job on this one. A first rate reboot to the franchise. Gene would be proud, I'm sure.

Cool, right on. Cool, right on.

Very Happy

Side note: I had no idea Subtronik was a Romulan... though it all makes perfect sense now....

Ummm... what?

Smokin'!

cheers

I concur. I'm also old enough to have enjoyed the original series in its first run. I'm so glad that Chris Pine did not imitate Shatner's halting delivery. Old character quirks were employed but nothing by anyone was overdone. Zoe Saldana is a warm sensuous Uhura. Karl Urban totally embodies Bones. The Spock "mind meld" history sequence audio was spectacular sonic temporal space shifting. I didn't even mind the Oompa Loompa Smile

We'd love to go see it, but I think we'll have to wait for the DVD release. Baby Gid can be quite mellow, but I can imagine him getting fussy and wanting to feed right in the middle of the film Smile

So glad to be reading all the great reviews Cool, right on.

YAY! I'm really glad you guys like it. I was hoping not to be disappointed. Hey Gideon, watching movies at home is awesome. We prefer it. Pause, grab brewski, pee, no noisy folks with cellphones behind you, brewski, pee lol. Could use a MUCH bigger screen tho. And a better sound system. How about you? Not being into TV impact the size of yer screen?

I'm sure Lil' Gid would love some quality time with Gramma with the payoff being Gramma gets some cuddle time with Lil' Gid and you two get to see Star Trek in the theatre.

It's a win-win for everyone...!!!

Rah!!

I'm thinking I'm agreeing with you. He's three months old now, so I think all parties involved would benefit. Cool, right on.
