Solipsistic Isolation
Created on: 07/05/09 02:38 AM Replies: 20

Something I've been working on lately. A bit of an opus of sorts. A tune built around the isolationist philosophy of solipsistic existence. A creepy, spacey, abstract piece consisting of burbling blips of circuit bent illogic blended into a landscape of alienistic chance musc. Lots of pinging and ponging reverberating around the sound spectrum in a cacophony of static experimentism.

So here 'tis...

FYI: When I did a track too large for Soundclick (my usual spot,) I uploaded a full 22 minute version of valvogoth to Last.fm just fine.

Solopsistic Isolation ... Yeah, I'd say I can dig the sentiment, but you don't exist.

A co-worker once asked me if I could prove a chair he pointed to existed. I said sure. When he asked me how I told him if I threw it at him he'd duck. He said that doesn't prove it exists. I replied perhaps not, but I gaurantee you won't ask me again....

I agree... as do others (not associated with this site) who have been gracious enough to listen to the whole 30mins and offer some very good advice on how this opus could be improved upon with some tweaking and editing and fine tuning. It was agreed upon that I was pretty heavy handed with the modulation involving the blipperphonics section in the beginning so that's now fixed. As well as a large mid-section has been removed resulting in a more cohesive piece that isn't so full of long toothiness yet still maintains its creepy, spacey, abstract isolationist feel. I will be uploading the re-worked version here as it is much shorter than originally, is within the upload boundries of this site and is much more ear friendly.

Very Happy

Track has been edited, remixed and uploaded. The stream/download links are now in the first post announcing the tune.

Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life. Remember that fear always lurks behind perfectionism. Confronting your fears and allowing yourself the right to be human can, paradoxically, make yourself a happier and more productive person. -- Dr. David M. Burns

Yeah weird stuff for sure.

Like the lo bit rate computer sounds. The buzzing not so much.

Good use of reverb and delay.

Would of liked some dialog samples.

Sounds very retro sci fi.

Like what for instance. I'm never sure what to use....

I don't know

I hear some banter between a man and a woman sprinkled throughout, filtered with some bit crushing distortion.

It would sound creepy if you couldn't really make out the conversation.
