YouTube and Google Videos on the Forums

You can now share your favorite YouTube AND Google videos on the ArtistServer forums.
All you need to do is copy the share URL (the page URL) - then start your post on our forums... and you'll see there's a new button on the "New Message" form labeled "Video" - click that and you'll get the forum's video 'tag' for inserting your video... so it looks like this (without the spaces)
[ video ] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hmVHhH96es [ /video ]
OR
[ video ] http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3377068192956126882&hl=en [ /video ]
For example - here is a live video of Herbie Hancock on YouTube ...
And here is a live video of Squarepusher on Google Video...
This only works for YouTube and Google videos. If you feel the video you are posting may offend people, add a warning to your post.

Thanks for the FORBIDDEN ZONE!  We ordered it on Netflix and it should arrive today or tomorrow. I was bummed that it didn't arrive yesterday because the movie itself takes place on 4/17...so I was thinkin' it would be cool to see it for the first time on 4/17. I know, I'm a goober.

My script is looking for a specific pattern to know when to output certain 'chunks' of code. So in the case of the youtube link, I'm looking for "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v" - and if the script sees this, it replaces your link with the code to embed the video. Your link didn't match http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v - so the script ignored it. The real name for the process is 'regular expressions' - which is where you identify and manipulate strings of text using a series of commands.
at any rate - the difference between the 2 urls is the WWW - so if you are on a country version of YouTube - just be sure to swap out the country from the URL and replace it with WWW.
