Synapsys, we've already discussed this here before, a few times I think. I brought it up myself in fact.
What's topping the charts isn't a reflection of what's good necessarily, only what has peoples interest at the moment.
There's no amount of bitching you can do that will change the way the charts are done around here so let it go.

If you feel there is something else I can do to improve the charts. If you have some suggestions, feel free to send them my way and I'll consider the suggestions. The only way I know how to tweak the charts to be more useful, is to shift to a weighted system, which is possible, but would require a lot of data processing to generate. I recently added a weighted voting system to another site i run: socialnetwork.in - but it's data set is far smaller than ArtistServer, due to AS having to be based on streams, downloads, previews, and ringtone downloads. To process, all 8,424 songs and all their activity would have to be considered to output a weighted rating. That's a lot of data to crunch!
synapsys - if you think your music is better, then do something about it...
1. get out and promote your music on ArtistServer
2. tell your friends, post links to other sites
3. make a ringtone and offer it with your song on ArtistServer
4. make a lofi version and offer it with your song on ArtistServer
Why are Joe's tracks top on the Pystrance genre? Because he has more exposure and has taken advantage of more opportunities than you.
1. his songs have been out for a long time = more exposure
2. he has been on the site for a long time = more exposure
3. he has ringtones available for his songs = more exposure
4. he probably links to his site and songs from other social sites = more exposure
5. he probably has developed fans over time = more exposure
6. he has an upgraded account = more exposure
7. once you hit the top of a chart, you can get stuck there = more exposure
Charts are based on data collected over the last 30 days. We assign points for unique streams and downloads per day. This means you don't build a total of points, but only a total for the current 'period' - which is meant to help keep the charts from getting stuck - but it can still happen.
Enjoy the site - participate more - release some more songs - post reviews - and promote yourself.

Synapsys...I decided to take a look at your page at AS....just to find out you only have 1 (one) song to offer....
I suggest you stop posting these kinds of threads and instead work very, very hard to release some more tracks and after that spend a lot of time finding out how to expose yourself......

Wow.  How I wish I had been monitoring the forum when this was originally posted. But for the record's sake, let me state what needs to be.

Subtronik makes a an excellent point - how many songs do you hear on the radio every day that are obviously popular at the moment, but in truth, aren't really all that great?
Every word of what Sonic Wallpaper said is entirely true. Notice that nowhere in his list are the words 'talent' or 'skill.' I will go ahead and state what we we already know - I'm not that great of a musician, never have been. I have a knack for picking out "hooks," but nothing I write is worth any sort of history book, like most music these days. I feel that a lot, if not the majority of artists in the psy genre here on ArtistServer are near infinitely better than me, musically. "Crucial stage of Awakening", by Yurika, is reeaaaaally good.
Are my tracks in the wrong genre? I don't feel like it...but...maybe? Psy definitely has two sides - the very wacked out, not very musical (IMO) kind that just does a lot of 16ths while moving filters, and then there is the more melodical, musical side of psy. If you don't agree, go spend some time at Philosomatika.com. In fact, Synapsys, you even said yourself in your review of "The Other" that you felt it was more like "progressive psytrance" and I totally agree with you. Problem is, progressive psy doesn't exist here on artistserver, does it? So what should I do? Put it in progressive, or in psy? Oh hell...I COULD sit here and split hairs with you over the differences in orange-red and red-orange, but give me a break. My brand of psy IS VERY DIFFERENT - but to quote something I never thought I would - "Psy is in the eye of the drug user."
I'm sorry my tracks being at the top of the psy genre pisses you off. I'm not the one doing all the clicking, though. Who cares about the charts, anyways? Do you let the radio tell you what you like the most? Have fun with it, man. We're all in the same boat here - unsigned.

My response was based on the technical and site related issues with charts, not with skills or talents at all. As the site admin, I try to stay out of topics and discussions concerning what music or artists are better or have the skills. The reason being, is that those opinions are my own and not those of the site - separating the two isn't easy, so I tend to not post too much feedback concerning music.
Personally, I don't listen to Psytrance or any form of trance music, I'm a breaks, downtempo, Ambient, and DnB guy 
My feeling... pay no attention to people complaining that your songs are high on the charts and enjoy the new nickname - ->> "who-the-fuk-is-joe" Kruve

My mentioning of "talent" and whatnot was to point out the lack of it being mentioned with regards to why songs place highly. I guess I was trying to reiterate the fact that chart placement and quality of the song are completely unrelated. These charts are totally clickbased, and in all honesty shouldn't really matter that much to anybody. It's nice to look at, just to see how much your stuff is being noticed compared to your fellow musicians. Just because a song is being clicked on doesn't make it good, ya know. I dunno, I think I simply tried to say what had already been said...and did a poor job of it...
As far as not paying any attention...well, lemme say this. Did it bother me? Quite the opposite - I smiled at this thread...but come on...I'm an Aries...it is not in my nature to stay quiet...for long.
