I'm planning on doing a big remix free for all this spring. I'm releasing my next album for free on a net label (anyone know a net label that would want to release an album of lo-fi electro pop in april or may?)
To go along with the release I'll be putting remix packs up for all the tracks on the album so anyone can do anything with them as long as they be so kind to send the results my way. Later in the year I'll release a free best of remix comp (either on my site or on the net label) chosen by me from all the creative commons appropriate remixes I get.
Anyway I'll keep everyone informed here with some upcoming remix fun.

I had emailed belladonna too. i know my music doesn't fit the style on the label, but Phil (who runs it with Sarah) is a fan of my stuff so I was hoping he could direct me in the right direction. I haven't heard back either. I think they're busy with getting the new site up... Of course, now I'm not sure I'm going to release the silly synth-pop / ambient techno album anyway. I made it in a month for kicks. It's probably not so great. your music would fit pretty well I'd imagine from past songs of yours that I've listened to.
I will start to release more remix packs as soon as I start releasing songs again.
In the mean time, I've been busy working on my other ambient project, Off Land which actually has a fan base now. The net label I'm on informed me that my latest ep hit the 3000 downloads mark after only a couple of weeks. yikes!

3000. great.
i was going to suggest maybe we should start our own net label.. but then i thought of server costs.. and god knows what.
anyway i hope Belladonna kicks back in action soon. Always seemed like a nice professional outfit. and i know my music rules

I've wanted to start a net label as well, but with all the net labels out there already, I almost don't see a point unless you focus on one particular style of music (that isn't techno or noise since 99% of net labels are IDM / techno / and ambient noise stuff). It actually can be rather cheap thought. You can just upload all your releases to Archive.org. that takes care of the cost of a server. The only cost then is a domain name and a small web space for hosting the label website which just links to off site files.

yeah, i think the toughest part is the online promotion. If i could get someone to do that for me, then maybe I'd start one as I don't mind doing everything else involved. You can make a "lazy net label" but the down side is it's not going to do well.
Multi-Panel, do you have any links to new tracks you can give me? I might be able to point you to a net label or two worth sending them to.
and since this post is about remixes.... remixes are cool. I'll get a rmx pack together someday for all you.

I'm wondering....what is the difference between a net-label and releasing your music on, let's say..ArtistServer?

well a a netlabel will do a little promotion.. people will know the label.. i mean you read it yourself F-S got 3000 downloads.. You will need to do heavy promotion yourself if you want to reach those numbers with the tracks just being on AS.
+ i never did something on a net label.. I think it's a kind of cool.

Ok, that's clear to me... I must say I'm not familiar with netlabels....but 3000 downloads, that's not bad!

I actual have some ideas on who I woud like to remix specific tarcks
Gee Lucy - Multi Panel Feed Lucy - Kylo Lucy - absurdist lover Bad Lucy - Doofgoblin Ahh Lucy - Michael Chocholak or Sonic Wallpaper eLucy - this one is up for grabs
Let me know if you are interested and I will create a mix pack.

ABC - That's great!
What type of file format do you want the tracks in? WAV, AIFF, or MP3?
If you use ProTools I could send you the ProTools file also.

Hi!
I prefer AIFF, I could give you an alternative emailaddress to upload the files.
But you have to send them in parts of max. 10 Mb.....what is the total filesize?
I don't think it should be a problem to upload them all, I do have a large amount of mailspace....
Please let me know, greetings, Roland
PS. I don't use ProTools....

I was going to upload a ZIP file to AS and give you a link to that. That seemed to work fine for the BE LUCY remix.
I don't know how big the zip file will be until I create all the track files. Most likely I will get to this over the weekend.
Do you want all track stripped of effects like compression , delay and reverb? I was going to leave any distortion effects since they are crucial to the sound.

http://www.box.net - is also a great place for uploading files for sharing - you may have to create a few zips to break your files down into chunks that are below the limit for their free service.
