A G5...the machine I've been making music with for years....
The problems started about a year ago: when it was asleep or if I was only backing up data after a while it crashed and the fans were running at an incredible speed as if the computer was overheated.
Now it won't even start up, I can hear the fans though and after some time they are running too fast making a lot of noise.
Off course I dived into MAC-forums and tried several things, but nothing works.....

Dude!! So sorry that had to happen!!!!!! I really do feel your pain- as you know! 
I'm thankful I backed up some of my stuff on an external hard drive otherwise it would all be in the past.

Thanks, Kylo....I didn't lose any data, I always backup, but at this point I have nothing to use it with....I need a new MAC, but unfortunately this is also my last day with a job....

...as for now...I just DL-ed a trial copy of Acid, gonna fiddle around with that app. a bit until I have a new MAC....(my PC still works, fortunately...)

I haven't used it, but the app looks good and won't have the limitations that the demo version of Acid has.
