More plays this year

Looking over my AS stats I see double the plays at mid year than I had for all of 2008. True I have newer pieces up but still it doesn't show who is playing or what attracts the plays to occur. Some of it may just be attractive titles, but really, why does my piece "untitled012409" get the most plays overall?
Gideon has as always done a fantastic job keeping the site going and it is good to see more diversity of music artists slapping up some tunes. Also the recent addition of instant Twitter posts when songs are uploaded has probably helped.
So the question, is the site getting more overall traffic this year?
Also, why don't more members surf the tunes while logged in to the site? I only see a handful showing up in the Recent Listeners list.

Why thank you For the Twitter integration - you can see the number of clicks per each song posting here: http://bit.ly/user/recent/gideonmarken - they range from 0-56 clicks per song.

Yes, there's a slow growth curve here, and we are getting more traffic than last year.

Signups are down by about 55% when compared to last year. I think a lot of listeners are not joining the site since there aren't any limitations forcing them to join. I need to look into the Facebook Connect login solution, that may help identify more people and generate some new members.

I admit I don't use chat apps much but it does seem some system of instant communication might promote more logging in. I'm on Facebook (I avoided it long time) to hook up with relatives and friends and sometimes it is nice to chat realtime even if the app window on FB is annoyingly small. Maybe I'm just in the crossover generation that doesn't quite get it but still thinks its a good idea. I venture many still use some major IM service so another chat system would seem redundant.
Gideon, what would be the advantage of Facebook Connect? I already find some concern with how my personal data gets tossed about amongst applications on that site.

Its been years since I've even THOUGHT about IRC chat. Seemed it was always fairly combative in rooms of any size. Maybe anonymity allowed for more spontaneous rowdy behavior (Damn, do I sound like an old man.) That and a regular podcast or webcast show might liven things up here.
