Ah - finally... a new song!
Damage Control

length: 03:09 file size: 4.54mb bit rate: 192kbps bpm: 80bpm A sly spy/detective sounding track which gives the impression someone is sneaking around, taking care of business... doing damage control.
Enjoy!

Like the weird funk happening here. Reminds me a little of MBM.
Only two issues for me: could of used more elements to spice things up and it needs more high end.

weird funk
more elements as in more layers of sounds? It has space for more , but I was looking to leave that space there. It does have a singular feel to it though. I tried another keyboard part, but found I kept doubling the underlying progression - couldn't find something to go along with the descending chords.
more high end - ok, I'll give it a listen again and see about remastering it with more boost in the high end. It certainly has a lot of low end due to the octave effect on the bass and one of the guitar parts. I can't get enough of that octave effect!
thank you for listening

More samples like your other work usually has, this is too minimal for me. And just a little more high end.

hmmm....this one sounds a bit undercooked - though I think I know what your getting at.
The bass sounds a bit loose - and I can't quite get my head round the tonality of the whole thing.
I almost like it if thats any use...

yes, it could be undercooked, but I think for my well being, I just HAD to get a track out. It's been soooooo long!
boy - I spend a decade making my songs really thick and now I can't lighten up as I get older While the sampledelic tunes of my past are fun - I feel they are also a bit soupy. I was shooting for a tighter sound here.
The tonality? Well - it's more like 2 progressions on top of each other - the bass line has a general repeating pattern of 3 notes with the octave getting hit every other, so it seems like 4 notes. Then the keys and rhythm guitar are playing descending chords over the top. I think it works - not sure why, as the chords are moving down 1/2 step at a time, so it would seem there would be something odd on at least 1 or 2 of the 4 descending chords. I certainly do not have an understanding of theory - but by ear, it seems to work.
I can zoom in and check the timing of the bass - but i think it's fairly tight with the rest of the instruments. It may be the swing of the breakbeat not inline w/ the rest of the instruments in some parts.
thanks for the feedback Jack

I like it.
Nice, sparse downtempo funk.

I like it, quite offbeat. It does indeed sound like some spy stylee kind of theme. Almost has a bit of an Eno thing going. The sound is quite dry except for the sparkly dx piano vibes, which is a nice contrast. Its the jazzy form combined with the dx sounds, quite harsh that is evoking Eno...sounds like something from his "Nerve Net" era...maybe not quite so mental Your tracks are very varied, I like the way you dip your toes into all sorts of genres and come up with something cool and always experimental Very cool stuff.
Cheers, Pete

Nice tune! What Subtronik said though... the tunes and harmonies are worth working with though. Good stuff!

I think it has a better bass than the era of Eno mentioned above.
Now, if you're being true to the concept of damage control, you could put sounds in the background of drawers being opened, papers being shredded, a computer voice going "Do you wish to permanently delete these twenty-seven items?" and the like. Then wind up with the sounds of a drink being poured.
Or there's always narration. This would fit well under narration.

Congrats on a new song Gideon!
I thought the track definitely captured that kind of atmosphere well and had a nice overall groove but felt it needed more variation. Perhaps more contrast? A middle piece?
All in all a good track that could use some more work on it.

Sorry, it's not bad, but I don't know, maybe a little too dry for me...
